speaking as a beginner and only having about 800 miles in 50 mile rides (on this vt 1100) i havent scraped a peg yet and i want to but dont yet have the confidence or skill and dont want to throw my new bike into the woods ....so i appreciate all your comments about under using the bike but its my baby and i dont want 2 seconds of stupid to ruin a month of riding my bike .... my father in law just bought a vtx 1300 last september and has been riding for thirty years.. he scrapped a peg after 80 miles and then was screwing around in my humble opinion and laid the bike down two weeks before he was to head out to california for a three week ride he wasnt wearing gear as most cruisers dont (leather vest AND HELMET) he has scars on both arms and knees and overextended his fingers and toes .. he has no knuckles on either hand ...so i wear full gear and take it easy...

so the wheelchair land speed record is 50mph .... you get the hayabusa and i will get the ball bearings for the wheel chair........... record books here we come

we are only but a few in the grand scheme of things there have to be others or are we just a freak of nature i think were freaks :wink:

man you must be good because its a bitch just getting my motorcycle jack under the vt1100 without my seven year old to run the ratchet strap.. i have done it but the belly of the 1100 is not flat ..the tranny part of the case hangs down about an inch ...the first time i did it myself the jack tried to skate board out from under my left leg and damn near ripped me in two..

what none of you guys have heard of welding on a gas tank with fuel in it ???? ok as i said [fuel in it} is ok. whats bad is the evaporated fuel in the top of the tank above the liquid... if you displace the vapor in the tank w something that dosent burn [exhaust fumes from a car that is tuned correctly {ie not rich}] then the vapor coming out of the top of the tank cant burn while you are welding on the side back or front until it is well dispersed and you weld up the hole .. just make sure the hose you run from the car to the filler hole in the tank to be welded wont melt... ie dont use moms gardenhose ... i have seen this done w my own eyes and it is possible but if not done correctly while cause a large noise followed by wimpering to the er .....any questions

bought my first bike and it was a 75 cb 550 about 48hp =wot in 61 seconds.....= get another bike soon ....got 93 vt1100 =900lbs and 70 hp =wot in 600 miles i am 155 lbs and in light duty shape i could never get this bike off the ground if it wasnt for the hywy bars....

you can use gas tank sealer which can be had at www.EastwoodCo.com, or you can fill the tank w exhaust fumes and weld it if you feel really brave or i can get you into contact w someone that can weld it...
