  1. Anybody notice that he's got the spiffy chrome wheels listed in the price breakdown twice, he must have paid for them twice.... or 5 times or something.
  2. Sounds like a nutty plan, I may be able to make it..depends on if I'm in the middle of mods ;-)
  3. Sounds like 'everybody' has no clue. The 250 Ninja is light, easy to manage and handles very well. Not overly powerful. A used EX500 would be a good choice too (IMO), if you're partial to the 'cruiser look' a Vulcan 500 might be a good choice. A 600cc+ 4 cylinder high performance sport bike is *not* a good choice, again just my opinion.
  4. Never ridden any FLH's, or any of the newer stuff. Never owned one either, just rode various friends bikes, rentals and the like. They are overpriced, under engineered low tech tractor like two wheeled monstrosities. But somehow they keep selling them. There's an interesting interview with Sonny Barger (by Dave Schwartz) where he talks about a 2000 Dyna Glide Sport he bought for his wife that'd go into speed wobble at 85.... and HE couldn't get H-D to do anything about it... Now that's customer disservice..
  5. It wasn't that bad, she did try to fleece me.. but she failed. Kinda hard when SHE has a bachelors degree and I've got a puny A.S. from a Jr. College... Sure I make 3 times what she does, but that's because I'm not lazy. I did the paper work myself so the whole thing cost mostly hassle.I'm not very right wing or left wing. If I had to be labeled with any political association it would be free market anarchist. She didn't fit in there either... of course neither of us fit in here either... but we're used to making due... One of these days we'll get out to a ride of some sort, Poxodd (my wife) is still learning and isn't very comfortable on crowded roads/highways and the like. Maybe when they open up that Quaker Steak and Lube (I think november?) perhaps we'll get up there for a bike night.

I've never had a problem with head shake at 70 or higher on H-D's, brakes..yeah...suck... and in order to make any reasonable power you need to spend another $10... and they're still pretty gutless.. I haven't ridden any newer than early 90's though, they may be getting worse. I'd never own one, if I were looking for a 'cruiser' it'd have to be a Triumph Rocket III.... ;-)

Custom Aluminum fork brace Mirror extenders handlebar risers SW-Motech siderack with Alu-Rack top tack 2 Givi E21 Monokey lockable side cases Pro-grip gel grips CD-Rom service manual Extra oil filters (I think I've got 10). extra valve shims (valves done at 8k miles) Runs perfect, never been down. Always garaged. Oil changes done between 1500/2000 miles. Very strong motorcycle. I'm the original owner, title is clear.   8. Yeah, kinda the same reason I left GTA, I still hang out with Bill and visit down there on occasion. I think the farewell dinner may have been the last one, you probably knew my practice wife, a few years back I imported a proper wife from California (knew her for a long time)...way improved in all respects...well.. and much younger too...bwahahahaha!!!
  9. Indeed I did, moved to the highroad after TFL shutdown for a while...then just pretty much stopped hanging around there... too darned many hobbies. You do any shooting with GTA? I was pretty much the first club Secretary, passed that on... still webmaster and I'm down there every now and again.
  10. Wise choice, too many young peeps buy the biggest baddest they can afford, and become big bad smears on the road. It doesn't reflect very well on the community... And when you're ready to upgrade, that 250 should sell easy.

  13. Finally decided to register here, soo many forums and so little time. Seems this place is perhaps not so stick up the backside worried about what people say or do (within reason and the rules of course). Not to mention having an A.B.A.T.E. forum. I've been riding since the late 70's, started in the dirt and when I was 15 I picked up a motorcycle for $100 in various boxes (1967 Suzuki T20), put it together got a motorcycle license (motorcycle only, weird but true.. this was California though) and motorcycles were my only transpo until I hit 20 or so. I've owned dozens of bikes over the years, many came in boxes or serious disrepair.. Kinda regret selling some of them (1967 Triumph T100SR mostly). This year my wife started learning to ride (on an XT-225) so we've been riding a lot of back roads (less traffic) and man are some of them nasty. I don't mind riding my ZRX1200 on dirt roads so much, but it's sure not fun... So a few weeks back I picked up a KLR650. Now all we do is look for back roads, using the GPS to find the smallest most backwater areas. Much nicer views and more interesting places.. as long as you don't mind dodging horse poop..
