  1. Sad to see it go. Part of my daily routine in the mornings is logging in and seeing what's new. But, before we go, Not Brian must post his most outlandish, craziest, never before told story. Give us all one more great laugh before shutdown!

    RIP Rutan TA :(

I was shocked when I saw this news yesterday. Very solid dude. He did some work on a TA I had after I first got it. RIP buddy.
  3. From the suggestions early in the thread, I decided to not just surprise her with one. She needs to try a few different guns to determine what is going to be best for her. She needs to be comfortable picking it up and using. After the holiday crap settles down, we'll take a day trip to the range and test a few.
  4. Thanks for all the advice and suggestions. I had also stopped at Vance's after work on Friday to pick their brain a bit. What I've decided that it boils down to is what several of you have stated. She needs to be comfortable with it. So, instead of just getting her a gun, I'm going to take her to the range to let her try a few different ones.
  5. With the increase in crime lately, I am considering getting something for the wife to keep nearby in the house since she is a SAHM. She has shot guns before, but never owned one. I have several shotguns in the house, but I need something easier to grab and more manageable for her. I'd like to get something inexpensive but reliable and cheap on ammo. What would you recommend?
  6. It is the 1.4. It's 9 years old and 133,000 miles. Would an extended warranty be for that long though?
  7. Appreciate all the information and suggestions. I ended up going with a middle of the road ACDelco one for like $50. Figured that'd give me the best of both worlds, so to speak. Being ACDelco, not $100+, and her dad and I splitting the cost, figured that would be worth it. Also picked up the serpentine belt from RA while I was at it. Again, about 1/2 the cost of one in a local store. There wasn't a huge difference in price for the coolant, plus I'd have to pay shipping for that, so I'll just get that local. I'll probably pick up some of the hose clamps locally as well because I'm sure those will need to be replaced as we take things apart.
  8. Great feedback. Much appreciated.
  9. All driving is very local, so maybe 15 - 20 minutes each way of our house. She's not going to be driving any long distances for quite some time and who know how long she'll have the car. It's serpentine belt driven, which we'll be replacing as well. They have several options on the RockAuto site, including some around the $50 mark. Maybe that'd be a good compromise?
  10. My step-daughter's car needs a new water pump. From Advanced Auto, they are $100. I found one on RockAuto made by US Motorworks for $17.00 and it has a 12 month warranty. That's a major difference in price. Would you feel comfortable using the $17 water pump? Backstory: It's a Chevy Cruze with 133,000 miles that her dad and I split the cost on the purchase of. We agreed that we'd split the cost on repairs. An independent shop wants $500 to replace it. We decided to just do it ourselves to save money as neither of us really have a whole lot extra to spend. It kind of makes me a bit nervous about purchasing a $100+ part for $17, but US Motorworks appears to be legit, from what I can tell. Thoughts?
  11. For basic home use, can't really go wrong with Dell. My only suggestion for whatever laptop you get, make sure it has at least 16GB of RAM, or you can get one with 8GB and purchase an extra 8GB stick to add to it.
  12. With the way they had been playing, the Buckeyes were only favored by 15 against Rutgers, so that should tell you a lot right there. CJ was MUCH more accurate after getting some rest. Let's just hope he stays healthy. The defense looked a hell of a lot better. I had to chuckle when Rutgers were celebrating their scores against the 2nd/3rd string Buckeye defense. They shouldn't have any problems with Maryland and Indiana. I'm looking forward to hopefully being at the OSU/Penn St game. A game time hasn't been announced yet, but I'm hoping it's a night game and that Game Day is going to be there at the Shoe.

    Car Question...

Agreed. We have a 2014 Cherokee Limited. POS! I hate that thing.
  14. I have no experience with geothermal, but in response to some of the other comments, my previous house was all electric with a heat pump. Never again will I have a house with electric heat. My current house has NG and is much more efficient and warmer air coming out of the vents. If you have any other options besides all electric, go that route.
  15. I'm on 20H2 and it works for me.
