They happen to meet US emissions laws and are still cost effective enough for VW to sell them here? Having a factory in Tennessee and Mexico helps I'm sure. See Audi for example, now has TDi's here, but they aren't quattros. The Audi CEO once explained that they couldn't bring over the quattro version of the A3 TDI because if the car were to go up a hill at a certain angle, the car doesn't pass US emission requirements. Sure they could add another catalytic converter or two on each car, raising the price on a car that is not in very high demand here to begin with. They do the number crunching and it just doesn't pay off for them.

Thank your government and it's dumb ass laws. It's the same reason why I'm driving a gasoline LR3 that gets 12mpg, and not a diesel one that gets in the 30s like the rest of the world. Or the same reason why I'm not driving an Audi diesel that has quattro. Stupid laws and regulations that require automakers to make modifications to their cars to sell in the US, which end up being too costly and not even worth it for them to bring it over here.

Yes. Widgets are great. Dashclock with all the different extensions are nice. I use the weather, hangouts, calendar, google voice, gmail and missed call extensions on my homescreen and lockscreen.

I'm the same way. So the more stock Google/Android apps, the better the user experience and the lighter/faster the device runs because it's not loaded with OEM and carrier apps. Unfortunately a lot of the Samsung apps are tied into Touchwiz so there's no getting rid of them without root. The Google Keyboard is the best keyboard I've used. Accurate, has swype like typing and it's free. It has a good dictionary and predictive typing with emoji support. I used to be a die hard Handcent SMS fan, until about a year ago when I switched to the stock Android SMS app. Much better user interface, runs smoother, and unlike handcent, I never had issues downloading MMS'. Recently Google updated the Hangouts app to send SMS and it's even better than the stock android SMS app. It's similar to the iOS SMS app now, where you can make video calls and see when people are typing and what they have read (like iMessages). So my suggestions. Google Keyboard Google Hangouts Also, try to use Google Now to it's full potential. It's a very powerful tool that I feel is often under utilized. Set your home and work address in there and turn on all the features. It's amazing the info it will give you, especially if you travel a lot.

Same. I love using Wallet. All my credit cards and loyalty cards are on there, if only all places had NFC readers then wallets would be a thing of the past*. It's also nice having all your receipts in one digital location. *except for iPhone and other non-smartphone users

Rubbing brake pads and rotors on concrete :dumb: I heard if you leave them inside a magic pyramid for 5 minutes before installation they will never wear down. Seriously, maybe if you glazed them over you could get rid of that by rubbing it on concrete. Otherwise you're just shortening the life of the pad.

Chrome is probably the #1 tackiest finish for car parts, let alone your entire car. I thought it was only apes and birds that were attracted to shiny things...I guess some people haven't evolved past that yet.

I'm sure they don't want to buy a used machine. Just stick to windows, they're already familiar and it's not overpriced. If they want to connect to other devices on their network for media, it will also just work....no mac bullshit workarounds required. Any well known brand will be fine.
