  1. So I have a handshake deal to 'trade' bikes with a woman on Tues night. She has an '07 GSXR 600 that's just a little too big for her and I have my '05 GS 500 that's a little small. My question is regarding the title transfer. I have never done this before and am a little confused. We both have a clear title, in hand, and I am giving my bike + cash for her bike. I checked online but every source I found says that you write the terms of sale on the back of the title when you get it notarized, then pay sales tax when you to go to DMV. Well, it seems silly to pay sales tax again so she said we will 'fudge' the numbers. Sounds good to me except, will this affect the value of my new bike with my insurance company? Is this how people usually go about this kind of thing? I feel like I am missing something, but I tend to over-analyze EVERYthing so I just wanted to get some input.
  2. I'm actually going to meet a girl today to discuss a trade. She wants something a little smaller and I want something a little bigger. Hopefully it works out or I will have wasted another PERFECT riding day for nothing....
  3. If the world is going to end, I should quit saving money and buy a better bike!!
  4. hahaha 'procreation technique'!?!? Very delicately put, thank you! I'm a bit mixed about bike nights. On one hand, I just got back into riding and the only thing I want to do with my spare time is get out on the road!! On the other hand, none of my friends own a motorcycle and I'm getting tired of always going alone so I need to meet people. Bike night is a good way for a newbie like me to meet some folks and hopefully start riding together!
  5. Yeah, that's what they told me. I didn't even look at the map cause I was thinking 'geesh, it's right there!'
  6. Ok, joke's on the new girl. I was waiting at the Shell that is practically in the parking lot of QSL. I wondered why NO ONE from Ohio Riders showed up two weeks in a row !! Fortunately, I rode over anyway and found some friendly faces. Nice to hang out with you guys tonight
  7. I was assuming that she didn't want any potential bumps or scratches for the wedding photos?? Anyway
  8. Geez, my coworker was just telling me that his neighbor's brother was killed on Gender Rd this morning and his wife had to watch the kids so that the sister could go ID the body. What a horrible thing. I am so sorry for his family and friends.
  9. I won't ever drink when I'm on the bike. I'm just there to be sociable and eat pizza!
  10. Welcome! Come to Bike Night at the Lodge Bar tonight. I'm sure Schmuckingham has already told you but we'll be there....
  11. I think I said this in another thread but I'm still in
  12. I have the day off I would love to go!
  13. Oh my gosh, that's so scary. I'm glad you are alright....thank goodness for gear, insurance, listening to the little voice in your head, and everything else you did right in this situation..... see you at bike night
  14. I wondered the same thing. Obviously this is back when she was a teen:
  15. I'm horrified while I am reading this... There was also information Josef Fritzl on Wikipedia but I don't know how reliable those details are: http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/05/08/austria.fritzl.ap/index.html?eref=rss_topstories
  16. I have to miss bike night this week but I'll be there next week. Hopefully the sun will be there too!
  17. I was at Shell but not until 7:05 and by then you must have left?? I hung around for a few minutes, a wire had fallen out of the back of my speedometer on the way up so I had to fix that. Texted gsxr750girl who said she wasn't coming and I don't know anyone else so I just went home.
  18. I'm about 6'1". I guess they make em tall in Ashland!!
  19. New to forum-speak here.... What's cola? Off topic? Anyway, back to the QSL question - I would like to come but if it's rainy, I won't make it.
  20. haha, i totally agree. Of course, every time I complain about the rainy days at work my coworkers jump all over me.....they like the rain b/c it's making their yards nice and green.
  21. Before this year, my only interest in cars has been to own one with enough features and good fuel economy. I've always been at least a little interested in what others modify/build but never had any desire to do anything to my own ride. Now that I've bought my first bike, it's all changing... I keep thinking about custom paint, different exhaust, etc. I'm even getting nitpicky about something as minor as which after-market helmet lock to install! *sigh* I caught the bug, I guess!
