  1. try riding in the mountains, with fog, in the rain, at night! Then throw in a couple of semi's that dont have their lights on. Mix that with following Mr.Earache, whos bike only goes 80mph no matter what the conditions are, and you will no longer fear death.

As a witness / Participant in this, I do agree, this certainly forced me to overcome my fear of riding in the rain !

  2. ^^^ look like u got a ways to go before ur at the edge in those pics. had a friend that tried the shinkos out once. siad they were the worst tires he had ever ran for any type of cruvie road.

i'd never run them but its ur choice and ur bike.

Well, define the edge? If the "edge" is the point where you lose, and the side of the road wins, I prefer to stay this side of the edge. Again, I am a conservative rider, simply stating that they are more than enough to have some fun with, and go home safely. If you want to run "at the edge" then by all means, buy a better tire. I have no intentions of riding "At the edge" on a public road, as I prefer to have some reserve to deal with the variables life throws at you. I am simply saying they are not "Death Traps" or "Life Threatening" by any means. If your looking to drag your knee on every corner, please do buy better tires.

  3. Ok, put it this way. You can buy whatever the fuck you want. You can try and test them out. BUT, if you EVER want to ride and do things the way the bike was built to do, you need the proper equipment. If you're a cheap ass and wanna save cash, that's totally cool. But don't try and say your Daewoo sedan is as good as the BMW it is parked next to. Get my drift?

I didn't say riding like I do at the track. Ever been to Deal's Gap? Ever rode 10 in KY? You can ride WELL within the posted limits and need good tires to do it safely and effectively.

What gets me pissed is when people like yourself ask fucking questions and when people with experience chime in with legit info, you think we're telling you in a high and mighty way. I could give two fucks what you ride on. Bring them to an STT event and ride them at Mid-Ohio for all I care. I'll help you as much as the next guy. What you ride is what you ride. I can help in your decisions by giving you REAL world info and experience. If you don't want it, don't post asking questions as to what you should do.

    Fuck.

Deals gap October 08, Well above posted limits on Shinko 009 tires - And this was just the "Gap", I went much faster on the Hellbender and some other side roads - And I personally feel that I ride rather conservatively. I agree the turn in is tougher than with some less rounded tires, but for the price they are great, that said you can buy better tires, but these are NOT as bad as most make them out to be. Very forgiving, the front gives a bit of a squeal when its at the limit, the rear I have yet to reach the limit of on good pavement, I have drug pegs / toes first. Try not to stare at my fat ass excessively ;)

  4. I would wait a bit longer, atleast a week, before attempting this. This will give the paint plenty of time to cure, and you won't have to worry about burning it as much. After this is done, start with 1000 grit paper, and warm soapy water. Gently sand in one direction, keeping the paper nice and wet. DO NOT use alot of pressure, and be extra careful around edges, as they tend to naturally have less paint on them. Keep a towel handy to dry off your work, and check your progress. You do not want to sand through the clear coat, so if you start to see anything but white on the sandpaper, you have gone too far. This is up to the painter if he applied a nice heavy clear coat. If your trying to remove orange peel, sand a little, then check your progress. You will be there when it is uniformly dull, no shiny spots. Stop here. Wipe it all down, then gently sand with 1500 grit, untill you cannot see any tiny sanding marks.

Once this is done, I use a heavy cut compound to restore some shine, buffing it all over once, then move to a lighter polishing compound to put on a real shine. On black, I then follow with a gloss glaze to remove sanding scratches and reduce spiderwebs. After a month, I apply a hand carnuba wax, when the paint has thoroughly cured.

Be sure to check and see what type of paint was used, and its cure time, before starting!

  5. lizard in this thread you are that guy that always has to be politically correct and no body likes..... anyway

glad your ok.. crashing made me faster... just dont let it scare you away ... learn from it and go back to the turn and master it

Well I for one appreciate the information he gave, and I do learn alot from others mistakes. Not saying I am glad she got in an accident, but I like to know why an accident happened to help avoid it happening again.

I know some accidents are just that, but I hear about so many accidents every year on here I like to learn and be as safe as I can when riding, so call it morbid but I always like to hear from someone more experienced what probably happened, and how I can avoid a similair situation.

  6. Had a great ride whodey was very professional and kept it under 50 for us slower riders. My legs are cramping up i dont get to ride enough and today was a bit much to jump into but i had a great time ! Everyone was courteous and rode safely hard to find with all these squids around! I would do it again anytime! Thanks for setting it up!

  7. Im out of this one unless the weather forecast changes, its calling for rain all over the place.:nono:

Yeah I see they upped it from 30% to 80%. I am going to keep an eye on the weather and see if it comes through a little more quickly then they planned. Are you doing the ride rain or shine? Or will someone post on here early if its cancelled?
