  1. Glorious(asshole) weathermen were wrong again and removed the t-storms from the forecast this afternoon/tonight. Anybody heading to QSL VV? Would like to meet up with some peeps and ride around for a bit before stopping there.
  2. Researchers have found that a chemical found in hops may actually improve memory. Unfortunately, a person would need to drink 3,520 pints of beer a day to get a high enough dose of the chemical to boost their brain power. A daunting task for even the most enthusiastic Oktoberfest participant. From the article: "Researchers at Oregon State University discovered that doses of xanthohumol, a flavonoid found in hops, improved memory and thinking in a lucky group of mice. Flavonoids are a class of compounds present in plants, known to have numerous health benefits. Last year, researchers discovered that a flavonoid found in celery and artichokes could potentially fight pancreatic cancer. The researchers treated the mice with dietary supplements of xanthohumol over the course of eight weeks. Their goal was to determine if xanthohumol could affect palmitoylation, a naturally occurring process in animals (including humans) that's associated with memory degradation. The mice then went through a series of tests—including the popular Morris water maze—to gauge whether or not the treatments had improved their spatial memory and cognitive flexibility. For the younger mice in the group, it worked. But on the older mice, unfortunately, the xanthohumol didn't seem to have any effect." http://science.slashdot.org/story/14/10/01/2225205/study-compound-found-in-beer-boosts-brain-function Is there anything beer can't do?
  3. October 19th at Williams camp ground in Nelsonville there will be a hog roast and night time poker run. All are invited and kids and sammich makers are welcome. Dinner will be served at 4:30 for a donation of $10 a person. This will include all you can eat sides and hog. Drinks are on you to bring whatever it is you like. Tent camping spots are available but please try and let MaxPower or myself know that you are coming down so we can reserve you a spot, RV spots can be available if you let me know very soon.. Please try and let me know if you are coming so I can let the people cooking know about how many more so we have the right amount of food for everyone. Also on October 19th will be a night time poker run through Wayne National Forest on quads, dirtbike or anything else you want to try and get down the trails on. Not 100% positive on how the poker run works but I will try and get more details as soon as I can. I am hearing that cards will be picked up during the day then you will need to hit certain locations throughout the trails at night to get your cards punched. Feel free to ask here or PM me if you have questions.
