Arai has long been known for their superior quality motorcycle helmets, and the Corsair-V has been a racing staple for many riders since its release. Arai has redesigned the popular Corsair-V, and announced its upgraded version as the Arai Corsair-X. The Corsair-X Nicky 6 features a striking red, white, and blue American Flag style graphic on the sides with Hayden's signature #69 near the bottom of each side. The top ties in the green color we’ve seen on previous helmets, and leads into the famous Nicky “Kentucky Kid” logo on the center back part of the helmet. With all of the new features of the Corsair-X and this special graphic, the Nicky 6 is a truly spectacular helmet. The PB SNC2 Shell of the Corsair X is much lighter. In fact, it is 30% lighter than the V. This is greatly attributed to the synthetic fibers and special resin formula that Arai has developed. Arai has not abandoned their special R75 shell shape, however. A lightweight, aerodynamic, and protective helmet is very sought after by racers, and Arai certainly has delivered. One of the bigger changes to the Corsair-V is the upgraded ventilation system in the Corsair-X. The top/center vent allows around 11% more airflow than the Corsair-V did. All of the vents on the new Corsair-X are easier to adjust with gloves, as well as more durable and longer. Another significant change is the new "Variable Axis System" (VAS). The VAS has a variable axis (moving pivot point) allowing the shield to open and close, even with the 24mm lower shield mount position. The interior of the Corsair-X not only provides protection and comfort, but also does a great job keeping you cool. The plush lining in combination with the ventilation system wicks sweat away and helps keep you a comfortable temperature. The interior is made of Eco Pure material, which helps maintain neutral acidity levels close to human skin and antibacterial consumption. 5mm peel away ear pockets on the Corsair-X allow riders room for a communication system. Per customers’ requests, Arai lowered the chin bar by 3mm for extra comfort (great for riders that use a microphone) and upgraded the chin curtain and neck roll to help block out unwanted noise and help improve ventilation. It took Icon six years to update the Airframe helmet, and they left no stone unturned when it came to its successor, the Airframe Pro. Just when we thought things couldn't get any better, Icon created the aggressive-looking Airframe Pro Ghost Carbon version. As Icon puts it, the Airframe Pro is "Angled for Attack." The Airframe Pro Ghost Carbon Helmet is constructed of lightweight and durable carbon fiber. The carbon fiber shell is handmade and has a rubberized finish. Weighing only 3 lb 3 oz, the carbon helmet is even lighter than the original Airframe Pro. The ventilation system built into this helmet is better than its predecessor. Developed with the help of Valentino Rossi and other professional motorcycle racers, the Pista GP Helmet is the top race helmet made by AGV. When it comes to dual sport/adventure touring helmets, Arai nailed it with the XD-4 Flare. It's comfortable, protective, and versatile for a variety of different riding situations. Arai, known for their premium quality motorcycle racing helmets, has a street riding helmet in their lineup: the Arai RX-Q. When Arai set out to make this helmet, they wanted to make it "The Ultimate Street Helmet." They definitely succeeded. The RX-Q is the ultimate helmet for street riding and sport touring. It is designed to be worn while riding in an upright position, unlike it's "big brother," the Corsair-V. This tri-color graphic features a glossy red, white and blue design, paired with metallic trim. The vent panels and rear cowl are a transparent gray color. This helmet has the same SAI face shield as the Corsair-V, meaning wider peripheral vision: 5mm extra on each side to be exact. The ventilation system built into the RX-Q is specially designed to allow air to flow through the helmet, all while still blocking out unwanted noise. Looking for some advice on a new helmet. I've been using a very budget S&S Helmet that is long overdue for replacement. I'd love a Shoei RF-1200, but it's just out of the budget, and will be for the foreseeable future (new kid coming soon.) Budget is $350 (give or take a few bucks, but definitely can't go over $375) Also needs to work well in upright riding position. I know fit is subjective, but one of my big concerns is noise. Current helmet is insanely loud on the road. Loud to the point I can't hear anything out of my bluetooth speakers at highways speed, even on max volume. I ride with earplugs, so it doesn't have to be silent but I really want it to be comfortable at highway speeds since I commute on the bike. Also, a transitions shield or drop down sun visor would be nice (stop me from carrying a spare shield to work and I hate wearing sunglasses under a clear visor.) Also would like pockets for bluetooth since I use a SENA 3s-W for turn by turn directions and occasionally music. I've tried on the Shoei Qwest, but wasn't very comfortable with the fit. Seamed a little too round for my head. Tried on an Airmada and it seamed to fit comfortably, but I'm not sure about the noise level of the helmets, and it doesn't have the drop down visor or ear cutouts for speakers unless I was seeing things wrong. Plus from what I understand the visor change isn't easy on it. Plus the graphics are insanely cool on them. I've heard good things about the Scorpion T1200, but the noise level of the helmet varies so much from review to review. Does anyone have experience with these helmets, or any advice on others I should look at. Planning on making a run down to State 8 to try on a bunch and see what I like.
