Shorting the data lines at the Android end doubled the charging current using an Anker cable and a 3A USB charger. I used an old USB extension cable to play with the data lines. The Anker cable was better than some random, skinny cable, but no better than a stock Samsung cable for current in this case.

Lithium Ion batteries require different charging methods than the old acid batteries. Inside a Lithium Ion battery are different cells - typically 4, 8, 12, or 16 cells depending your motorcycle's requirements. By balancing these cells, you are ensuring that your voltages are equal between the cells giving you the greatest power from your Alien Motion Battery. The LED charge status indicator simply turns from red to green to signal that charging is complete. Plug in the banana clips and diagnostic plug into the bottom of the charger.
