  1. Couldn't resist an oberon clutch slave off a parting out bike for the price of a used oem slave. I had decided against aftermarket ones as I didn't really want to take more lever travel for the easier pull of the bigger piston with my average sized hands that find the hydro clutch easier than any cable clutch I've had already. I have CNC levers on 2 of 6 setting. Then this one popped up, and the oem's are known to start leaking and I could easily sell it for what I paid. Installed it during this warm snap and got one ride in. Supposed to be 20-30% easier and equally longer engagement. After installing, it felt the same bare handed but riding with gloves it did feel easier. Being used to the old one's pull I'm trying to get over the subconscious "must be air in the lines" every time I pull it . Maybe after use it lubed up and got a bit easier... I do feel more confident moving my thumb for signals/horn while holding the lever in. I didn't take any time to play in the engagement zone and pretty much rode naturally. The only times the lever bothered me before was getting stuck in backed up stop and go traffic. Neutral did seem a bit fiddly to catch. Later models got a smaller clutch oil jet supposed to improve that if I can't get used to or make an adjustment.
  2. We all know a motorcycle clutch is a regular wear item. It is a necessary maintenance item that will need to be changed eventually, whether it is at the factory recommended mileage schedule or earlier for heavy clutch users. What you may not know is how easy and affordable it is to change your own clutch. EBC offers a variety of clutch options, from OE replacement, the SRC kit (pictured here) for faster trackday riders, or the SRK kit, which is ideal for racers. The OE clutch replacement kit from EBC is nearly identical to the original clutch plates, however an OE kit is only the friction plates. The SRC kit, includes higher quality Kevlar paper-lined plates along with heavy-duty springs in most kits. The SRC has a more aggressive take than the OE replacement kit. EBC’s best clutch kit is their SRK series. Includes the same friction plates as the SRC kit, but with the addition of steel separator plates to allow your clutch to rebuilt to the original stack height. All EBC clutch kits include the exact number of springs, friction plates, or steel plates required for your application. No guesswork when ordering an EBC clutch kit from Riders Discount. If you have any questions on which kit is right for you, feel free to shoot us a message on this forum or give MIKE a call at 866.931.6644 ext. 804. Is email more convenient? 3. The Hinson clutch kit available from Riders Discount is simply the best clutch kit you can buy for your off-road vehicle. Available for most dirt bikes and quads, the Hinson is ideal for racers or riders actively looking to improve their riding. It's unfortunate the clutch kit from Hinson has to hide behind an engine cover as it looks quite nice. Hinson includes a basket, inner hub, pressure plate, friction steel plates and springs, cushions and clutch cover included as needed. A complete clutch kit from Hinson allows the clutch assembly to spin more true creating less heat when the clutch is disengaged provide a more positive clutch feel as well as eliminating clutch chatter and improve clutch life. Precision machined in the USA from T-6 aircraft quality aluminum to aerospace tolerances and Akadized for 5 times the wear resistance to stock with proper maintenance. Hinson includes a backing plate on the clutch basket however you will need to reuse the gear from the original clutch basket. Ask about adding in a Motion Pro clutch tool to aid with installation. 4. Yoyodyne motorcycle parts are synonymous with quality and performance and Yoyodyne slipper clutches are no exception. Their precision build and wide breadth of adjustability that require no special tools for adjustments make them a popular choice for everyone from club racers to AMA Pro teams. Yoyodyne clutches are assembled using fewer parts than other aftermarket slipper clutches, so there’s less to fail and is what ultimately makes them easier to work on in the first place. A simple, smooth-acting ramp mechanism within the clutch hub provides slip when rear wheel and engine speed don’t match. This simple mechanism allows the rider to concentrate on corner entry at maximum speed without having to wait for the rear end of the bike to calm down leading to increased rider confidence and lower lap times. Many late model motorcycles come from the factory with OEM slipper clutches installed but they lack the kind of adjustability that a Yoyodyne slipper clutch provides. Available from Riders Discount, this is not yet listed on the website but you can place your order with MIKE by giving him a call at 866.931.6644 ext. 804. Is email more convenient? Send us a message through this forum or write to us at FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM, and we'll get back to you right away! Each slipper clutch is developed with the aid of professional riders for each application, giving you a setup that’s in the ballpark straight out of the box for most riders. Unlike other aftermarket clutch manufacturers and some OEM slipper clutches, Yoyodyne slipper clutches do not use proprietary diaphragm type springs. As a result, they provide a better, more linear feel when starting off the line. Modulation is easier thanks to their more consistent clutch engagement. Yoyodyne also includes two sets of spring retainer buttons with two different thicknesses. This allows any rider to fine-tune his machine to his needs. Pictured here for the Triumph 675 To prevent clutch plates from overheating, oil passages are machined into the sides of the clutch hub. Oil entering through the center is evenly distributed throughout for consistent operation in the high-stress environment of a racing engine. Yoyodyne clutches use a much tougher base plate of the clutch hub to limit clutch slip. This reduces stress on spring retention bolts that weren’t designed to tolerate lateral loads in the first place, increasing reliability.
