RidersDiscount
Another new addition to the Alpinestars jacket line for 2013 is the Celer. This jacket brings a fresh and aggressive style to the more technical end of the line-up. It also packs the protection and comfort features that make Alpinestars one of the biggest names in riding gear. Like most Alpinestars jackets, the majority of the Celer is made up of premium 1.3mm leather, with stretch panels of accordion leather and other synthetic stretch materials mixed in for comfort. The protection provided by the leather chassis is bolstered externally by dual-density TPU sliders on both the shoulders and elbows. CE-certified armor is layered underneath the leather and sliders in both of these areas as well. Those that ride on the road know that being seen is a key to staying safe, which is why Alpinestars also added reflective details into the back side of the jacket. Being on the technical end of the Alpinestar jacket spectrum means that the Celer has their most aggressive pre-curve. This doesn’t make it uncomfortable, however. Accordion leather stretch panels in the arm and upper shoulders add flexibility without taking away from the abrasion resistance. Stretch panels also fill the armpits and run down the arms all the way to the end of the wrist. This area is unlikely to come into contact with the pavement, so a lighter weight aramidic stretch panels were used for even more flexibility and breathability. Anyone that’s had an older, or cheaply made jacket in the past knows how uncomfortable a stiff, leather collar can be on the neck. Thankfully, Alpinestars is familiar with this, and lined the collar of the Celer with soft neoprene. The back of the neck is covered with a light and airy mesh that connects to the fully ventilated back hump. Additional airflow can be had by opening any of three zippered vents found near each shoulder on the front and the lower back.If you’re looking for a technical jacket that is at home on the street, in the canyons, or to zip into a pair of leather pants for the occasional track day, the Alpinestars Celer jacket is a great option to consider.
