idodishez
I know it's legal to ship in state w no FFL. I've had someone do it before to me. But don't know specifics. I thought it was ups, not USPS. Anyone have a link to legalities or specifics that I can show a seller and/or UPS? kiggy74
I believe this applies to rifles only, not handguns.I'd start here www.atf.gov
Butch
Gunbroker's page says that you would be all right shipping within the same state. http://www.gunbroker.com/support/supportfaqview.aspx?faqid=1118 But I can't find anything on UPS or USPS pages that state you are 100% ok, as neither seems to mention in-state shipping, that I could find. The carrier you can use depends on the type of firearm for sure. A pistol, handgun, or 'concealable' weapon cannot be shipped USPS. It appears that a rifle or shotgun can be shipped USPS from one individual inside a state to another individual inside the same state, if you comply with some Gun Control Act of 1968, but I didn't feel like digging that deep to find out what it says. I also don't find any mention of in-state shipping vs. out of state shipping, so that is probably mentioned in the Gun Control Act. http://pe.usps.com/text/pub52/pub52c4_009.htm UPS does allow for shipment of handguns (next day air only) but the UPS firearms page doesn't mention shipping within the same state at all, so it wants a licensed dealer. http://pe.usps.com/text/pub52/pub52c4_009.htm Good luck, you're probably going to need it as everyone needs a written procedure to do anything anymore, and doing something out of the norm is bound to be a hassle. FFL fees usually aren't that outrageous ($15 or so I think depending on who you use), so that's always an option if you can't get it sent otherwise. Or you could just take a road trip to pick it up I guess too.
