RidersDiscount
Every type of material used in protective riding gear has different strengths and weaknesses. Leather, for example, offers great abrasion resistance, but this comes at the expense of mobility and airflow. On the other hand there are textiles, which are lighter and more flexible, but can’t match leather in terms of protection. The Icon Compound jacket both of these materials together into an everyday type of riding jacket that aims to give you the best of both worlds. The Icon Compound uses both 1.2-1.4mm cowhide leather and a durable textile in its construction. Major impact areas like the arms and shoulders are protected by the more abrasion resistant leather, while the main chassis is made up of durable but lightweight textiles. This combination allows for comfort and ease of movement without sacrificing protection where you need it most. It isn’t just the two main materials that keep you safe, however. The Compound also features an articulated back armor plate, plus CE approved Field Armor in the shoulders and elbows. As an all around jacket, the Icon Compound comes in a mid-range sport fit. This means that while it is a sporty jacket, it isn’t aggressively pre-curved and remains comfortable on or off of the bike. It isn’t the kind of fit that requires a size up like many of the Euro-sized pieces of gear would necessitate. The Icon Compound jacket comes six different color and sizes Small through 2XL. Color options include: Stealth (Black w/ blacked out logos), Blue, Gray, Green, Orange, and Red. If you’re interested in the Icon Compound jacket, or any other Icon product, feel free to get in touch with Nathan. If email is more convenient, go ahead and send one to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM and we’ll get back to you right away! The Icon Compound jacket is shown here in Green. There isn’t just one type of textile that makes up the non-leather portions of the Compound. Stretch materials under the arm, vented reinforced sections on the body/arms and fighter mesh chest vents all add to the versatility of this jacket. 1.2-1.4mm leather guards major impact areas like the shoulders, biceps and forearms. An articulated back protector is centered at the rear. An array of vents are also built into this area to allow warm air to escape. Articulated elbows add to the flexibility. Ratcheting adjusters on each side of the waist let you adjust the fit.
