The back protector would be good for impacts but not for hyperextension. I don't think putting it in a helmet would make sense, since since it hardens up on impact....transferring the shock to your skull and brain; just the opposite of what you want to happen. RHill Posted September 17, 2013 Report Share Posted September 17, 2013 Spreading the impact over an area works for the shovel because it is a relatively light impact.....hit someone on the head with a shovel and it will hurt and maybe break the skin and bone, but it wont cause the brain to smash up against the inside of their skull and cause real damage.
