CSI Grissom is out there.

I've never been there, so I don't know about safety, but whenever I'm out in any big city, everyone's a suspect. I trust nobody and am always watching my back. I wouldn't get shit faced and hang out with strangers that's for sure, so don't do that. Trust nobody except the ones you're with.

Have fun! I would love to go sometime.

I lived there for a year. You'll be fine safety-wise. Just like anywhere else...keep an eye on yourself. Milk the fellow tourists as much as you can for free drinks...that'll really save you big on cash. It's not all that hard to do, because there are a lot of guys there thinking they'll get lucky with anybody that looks their way. If you're into scenic stuff, there's Valley of Fire, Red Rock, and the Hoover Dam. Going to the top of the Stratosphere is cool to look around the entire town. Other than that, have fun!

If you go to the Strip, make sure you have some very comfortable walking shoes. I 'm always amazed how much I end up walking while there.

If you have a car, take a ride out through Death Valley. Some cool views and stuff to see.

I went there in Sep of last year. I also have some family out there.

Like the lpsanders said, safety wise you'll be fine. All you need is common sense. The strip is pretty safe. Don't go somewhere you've never been with someone you don't know ...etc..etc.

Where are you staying?

As far as drinks goes, one suggestion would be to get a frequent player card at somewhere like Harrah's..or associated hotels. Go to a bar that has video poker machines right at the bar. Stick your card in and order a drink (drinks are free if you are gambling). Tip your bartender well, stay for a min or two, take your card out and move on. Free drink.

If you've never seen the Grand Canyon, I suggest you take a day to go check it out. The Hoover Dam is nice, but the Canyon will humble you.

Food wise, it seemed the more I paid for a meal, the worse it was. The only meal that was worth the $$ to me, was the Asian restaurant inside Treasure island, called Social house. Moral of the story, don't spend a lot of $$ on food unless it's a special night out.

Don't get a tatoo...overpriced. And try not to end up with someone elses crotch in your mouth at 6am. :)

Oh yeah, check out Carnival Court right behind Harrah's. The bartenders are the best in the world. Trust me..spend a few hours there watching them mix drinks.

Whatever you do, don't get up a couple thousand at the roulette table then keep betting.

:nono:

At least they kept me drunk as a skunk. Free drinks if you're gambling ROCKS.

PS: Play 4, 7, and 33 for me at the first roulette table you find.

My wife and I went there for our first time this past December, it was a fricken blast. We stayed at the Excalibur which was real nice and the placement of it on the strip was ideal, right across from MGM, Tropicanna and New York New York.

We liked the Hooters casino alot, we had dinner there and played slots for a couple hours there. It sets off the stip behind the Tropicanna.

A really helpful website is... http://www.visitlasvegas.com

If you have myspace access you can check out a 100+ pictures from our trip in the pics section of my myspace page.... http://www.myspace.com/davidrosso

Have fun, I'm jealous as I'd love to go back already.

My bad...but it doesn't mean he can't milk a few drinks from a dude on the strip, too. Ha ha.

There are more than a few men out there willing to oblige.

Seriously though, there's no need to spend a grand on drinks while you're there..especially if you're gambling a lil bit. There are liquor stores all over. Buy a bottle or two and take it back to your room.

Rent a bike, goto red rock canyon, hoover dam and hit the dessert man

Sportbike rental right there in vegas, but be prepped for a big credit card swipe for insurance.. you wreck it = 5,000 grand minimum something like that, but no cost if you dont crash

P.S. Vegas in general bored me to tears, other than the shows, and the open road...

gambling has no interest to me.. and Vegas wasnt what I was expecting in terms of over the top light shows / neon etc all over the place

Now renting a bike sounds great!!!!!That would be bad ass!:D

Harley and sport bikes were about the same price, but the harleys had unlimited miles... ( that didnt even come into effect though )

Insurance was basically free if you let them swipe your credit card for 5,000 bux...

Did you find the websites...

They guy at the sport bike place was AWESOME, he picked us up at our hotel, and even transferred us from two hotels ( long story )

He even brought the chain to the bike the first nite and locked it up for us...
