Scruit
Thread officially derailed.Sorry Scruit. Meh, most of the Scruit-bashing moved to the video thread. I once drove a Peugeot 407 Diesel around England, Ireland and Scotland. Same thing, drove it like I stole it and got 45mpg in a car the size of a Taurus. Looked exactly like this one: Edited October 23, 2014 by Scruit

Gump
I drove a Jetta in Ireland 2 years ago. Amazing that almost everything's a diesel, even tiny ford escort type vehicles. We're getting screwed big time on vehicle options.
Scruit
I have a 2014 Jetta as a rental right now. Gasoline. It is making me car sick. The gas is too lunge-y and the brakes are too grabby. The gas pedal does very little at first the suddenly you get the power. It is annoying the folks behind me and making me wonder if I need to carry a barf bag. Edited October 23, 2014 by Scruit
Tigerpaw
We have a 2012 JSW TDI. I like the engine but the DSG tranny is finicky, and won't allow you to tow.
Scruit
No tow on a diesel? Wow.
Tigerpaw
No tow on a diesel? Wow. I know, right. I was pretty pissed when I read the manual!
jbot
that's the one ding against the DSG (other than being basically non-serviceable). it is good in every other respect but it is fairly weak sauce when adding load.
Scruit
I had to turn the Jetta back in to Enterprise as it was leaking oil. Surprising for a 2014 VW. Instead I have a '14 Elantra which has much smoother gearshifts and braking. The VW was only driveable for me in Sport Mode where it changed gears much less frequently. In Drive it was a Spew Canoe.
