Gump
? Is PayPal that simple via an app? *not being a smart ass, I really don't know. I've used pp before but not in the manner of this App. Edited October 24, 2014 by Gump
smccrory
There are going to be SO many options for mobile/quick payments in the next year. Looks like this one is pretty straightforward. I would expect PayPal to have to simplify their flow and give up some holding interest income as a result.
BadTrainDriver
Yes, PP haS a very simple app. All I need is your phone number or email address. If we had compatible phones, we could even "bump".
Steve Butters
Square is anti second amendment and there's no way I'd use their services In an alert regarding a change of terms, Square notified vendors: …you will not accept payments in connection with the following businesses or business activities: …sales of (i) firearms, firearm parts or hardware, and ammunition; or (ii) weapons and other devices designed to cause physical injury.http://dailysignal.com/2014/09/25/gun-shop-owners-longer-hip-square/ Edited October 25, 2014 by Steve Butters
smccrory
That's a sobering reminder, thanks Butters. That should be just as unacceptable to anti-gunners, because if you can exclude lawful firearm commerce, you can do it to anything else otherwise allowed by law. Gump
I tried it, my brother sent me $5, then I deleted the app. Lol. Good catch butters. I'll write their CIO a letter.
smccrory
Looks like Square doesn't like a lot of other things also: https://squareup.com/help/en-us/article/5089-prohibited-goods-and-services-with-square-register Any illegal activity or goodsBuyers or membership clubs, including dues associated with such clubsCredit counseling or credit repair agenciesCredit protection or identity theft protection servicesDirect marketing or subscription offers or servicesInfomercial salesInternet/mail order/telephone order pharmacies or pharmacy referral services (where fulfillment of medication is performed with an Internet or telephone consultation, absent a physical visit with a physician including re-importation of pharmaceuticals from foreign countries)Unauthorized multi-level marketing businessesInbound or outbound telemarketersPrepaid phone cards or phone servicesRebate based businessesUp-sell merchantsBill payment servicesBetting, including lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, off-track betting, and wagers at racesFinancial institutions offering manual or automated cash disbursementsPrepaid cards, checks or other financial merchandise or servicesSales of money-orders or foreign currency by non-financial institutionsWire transfer money ordersHigh-risk products and services, including telemarketing salesService station merchantsAutomated fuel dispensersAdult entertainment oriented products or services (in any medium, including Internet, telephone or printed material)Sales of (i) firearms, firearm parts or hardware, and ammunition; or (ii) weapons and other devices designed to cause physical injuryInternet/mail order/telephone order cigarette or tobacco salesDrug paraphernaliaOccult materialsHate or harmful productsEscort servicesBankruptcy attorneys or collection agencies engaged in the collection of debtIt's really a bizarre list that puts Square squarely in the seat of arbitrary interpretation. Like, "harmful products" - that SHOULD include soda, solvents, rodent poisons, weed killer, bug killer, motorcycles... And "Occult materials" - does that mean books about Mormonism, Wicca, Ouija Boards and Dungeons and Dragons cards are prohibited? And "Adult Entertainment" - would that include instructional materials, or only things Square discerns as smut? F#%^ Square. If they want to be in the business of deciding what I can and can't use it for, then I'll go with instant-pay options provided by a real FI (financial institution). Strictly Street
F#%^ Square. If they want to be in the business of deciding what I can and can't use it for, then I'll go with instant-pay options provided by a real FI (financial institution). It's "Operation Choke Point" sponsored by the Holder Justice Dept.Gun shops are being denied the ability to process credit cards as well. It's not just 'Square'. A 'Real FI' can/will deny the option of payment to the store as well. Cash only at some stores.Of course cash means your a drug dealer and the cops get to steal your money 'cause 'Public Safety' forfeiture.https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=Operation+Choke+Point Added link Edited October 26, 2014 by Strictly Street
