speedytriple
Ok so im starting my first ever build. Wow, the options out their are over whelming to me. I am set on what i want to build, a 18 inch hbar with a fast light trigger. I know what trigger i want and the stock is picked out. But as far as the barrel, upper, lower parts kit, an buffer set up im still looking. Going with a samson evo hand gaurd in 15 inch size. I have a spikes honey badger lower with a magpul miad grip, and trigger guard so far. Looking at a ares 18 inch stainless hbar, or a rra 18 inch stainless hbar. To many options lol. zx3vfr
Get the enhanced trigger guard if you didn't already get one.

Pokey
AR's are fun guns for many reasons, sounds like you are on the way to a nice build. I am rather proud of the one I built, but of course I have a few more items I would like to add and or change.
Helmutt
I just finished a 20" hbar build last month, aside from a bipod, that is. I spent months researching what I wanted vs what was affordable vs best bang for buck. The amount of shit to sift through is staggering, but once you figure out what you want the rifle to do, it gets easier to narrow down. I cheaped the LPK with a standard CMMG kit, but a light trigger spring kit and some ruby stonework on the sear helped smooth it out nicely, little over 4 pound pull. Eventually it may get a Timney drop in, but just to get it cycling and sighted, the cheap kit works well enough for now.I went rifle length gas system, heavy buffer (H2), standard spring. speedytriple
Im thinking spikes standard spring with a st-t2 buffer. Mostly looking at spikes stuff to match the lower for a tight fit, but putting quality parts inside.
zx3vfr
Stick with a standard buffer. I run a t2 in my pistol and a standard in my 16" and the 16" won't begin to work properly with the t2

Wojo72
Check out http://ar15.com if you haven't already. There is enough AR info in the tech forums to make you head hurt. The GD section can be a shit show at times.
smccrory
Jebus that's a lot to read.Any shortcuts to buying or building a simple sport rifle in the 5-6 lb range? I love my Russian SKS but 8.5 lbs gets pretty heavy after a while.
speedytriple
Im on there already. That place has turned into a pissing match to often on peoples personal preferences. It has some good info though, if you have deep enough waders to slosh through all the shit.

madcat6183
Just ordered my first lower and lower parts kit to start a pistol build. Pretty stoked about all of this, never done anything even close before. Going super budget minded but still want quality stuff so doing some research and a lot of shopping for discount codes, ebay, etc.
speedytriple
Yeah shop around even saving a little on each part can save hundreds when its all done.
madcat6183
Man Sportsmanguide has a 10.5 300blkout for 90 right now for members, considering just doing the 300 like i planned on next build, or doing both at the same time. That would mean I need 2 more lowers, can't not have a spare sitting around. But I hate the idea of spending that kinda cash on all new ammo too.... Decisions. speedytriple
Lowers can be had for $50 from palmetto.
madcat6183
Well, everything except optic/flip ups is ordered for the AR pistol. Im a moron and just can't sit around and do it slowly. However, I will be doing a 300 build next, and already saw Vance's has the Anderson lowers for 45 this month.... That's cheap and no FFL so probably grabbing a few for future builds.
