rawlins87
Looking to buy a 1911, either while in Texas and shipped to an ffl or when I back in Ohio. I've been looking at Remington's R1 and Desert Eagles' 1911. Looking for a 1911 under 800. I'm a 1911 noob. I have a genII baby eagle (IWI) hence looking at the desert 1911s. Any insight is appreciated.
Tpoppa
Ruger makes some nice ones near that price.
C-bus
I've bought my last 4 guns from this guy....https://www.keelyarms.com/searchresults.asp?searching=Y&sort=11&cat=1911&show=6&page=4. His pricing is good and he's easy to deal with. As for a 1911 in that price range, I'd go for either the Ruger or Remington. That Night Watchman from Ruger is pretty appealing. That being said, I am not a 1911 expert by any means. I haven't shot one in probably five years and currently don't own one. Check out Keely Arms though. bowdog
I have 3 in the fleet right now, a Kimber, S&W and a Desert Eagle...Let me know when you get back and you can shoot them if you want to get a feel for what you like.

How does the S&W shoot? Every Smith firearm I've owned has been excellent.
ReconRat
Drop ship from grabagun.com in Texas to FFL of your choice.Lowest prices I've found anywhere. Usually free or $2 shipping.On-line only, but at least you can check and compare rock bottom prices.Low prices, but good luck finding popular items in stock. They go quick. The lowest price 1911s sometimes have to go back for lack of quality control.Somewhere higher priced 1911s are a better choice. Remington-Rand made more 1911s in WW2 than Colt.Springfield made 1911s prior to WW1.Many (if not most) current 1911s are forged frames and slides produced by Imbel in Brazil. edit: quick history of mil-spec 1911:http://coolgunsite.com/collectors_guide.htm Edited July 14, 2015 by ReconRat

bowdog
Not a bad gun but i wouldn't trade my S&W or Kimber for one.

Sent it back because they refused to make it right and fix a defect, calling it "normal". Never again. "I miss America"
aforrest4
My last 1911 was a Springfield Armory. Kept it for about 20 yrs. Loved it.
jbot
Love my les baer monolith but also enjoyed shooting my old sig gsr. Remington seems to be selling theirs for cheap, but check slickguns, tons of 1911 postings there.
