Some of you might remember that I've been helping my dad with a 67 Vette frame-off restoration. Well, here are some pics of the progress. BTW, the last pics show how fast surface rust forms on a bare frame. smile.gif

Is the frame getting painted?

Yes, those last pics are the morning after the sandblasting fun.

For the next few weeks, it will be in a frame shop getting the 2 siderails replaced, and the crossmembers repaired.

Then smoothed, primed, and painted. I'm ordering the master front end rebuild kit tomorrow, so we can attack the front suspension as soon as we get it back. smile.gif

It was made more difficult because it sat for ~20 years, and EVERY possible nut and bolt that could have been frozen was frozen.

If you have a lot of patience and enough garage space to do it, pulling the body off is not all that terrible. WD-40 becomes your best friend. smile.gif

He invested in a $40 step-by-step book and video that walks you through the process. I questioned him when he bought it, but it proved invaluable.

It was all done without a lift, air tools, or any tool you wouldn't find in a Craftsman starter set. I tried to talk him into doing all of the work at our shop, but he really wanted to do this project in his house garage. He tore several Vettes apart in his folks 1-bay garage in his early 20's, and I think he wanted to relive some memories.

Definitely not a novice project; he and I have around 60 years of wrench-turning under our combined belt. But, it's been a blast so far. It just makes it SO MUCH EASIER to get at the drivetrain, misc lines, suspension, etc.
