Browning
96 Cavalier-Front end wants to lock up on me. Even when Im only going say 10-15mph, and you can feel it pulsate, and push back on the pedal. I know its not the rotors, nor the pads. I havent done anything to the lines, etc so I dont believe it needs bled. And you can hear that dreaded sound that ABS makes. Damn near rear ended a semi this morning on
McGraw
fix it, sounds like you've isolated the problem.

Dave1647545494
it sounds like the abs pump is out of it but you need to go through it and make sure its not getting a bad reading from one of the wheel sensors. is the abs light on?? Browning
Light is not on. How do I determine if it is the pump or not, and where might this pump be?/ lol
Guest racinbird
probably wheel speed sensor
Browning
wouldnt that cause the light to come on though?
Guest racinbird
not always, it may just think its moving at a different speed than other wheels when you are braking, causing ABS actavation during normal braking. It normally will throw a code out though.
Browning
So how would I go about diagnosing it and narrow down things?
Dave1647545494
plug it into a scanner and watch the abs values when you drive
Browning
so basically take it to a shop.....?
Guest TGrant
If you dont have access to a scanner or an oscilliscope then you'd probably be better off taking it to a shop that does.
