Boost-n-Juice
I recently upgraded to a 3g 130amp alternator in the Mustang and I was doing some diagnostic stuff to try to figure out why computer is changing my MAF voltage in the EEC tuner and found that the voltage to the coil is 12.5 with the key on and as I rev the car the voltage goes up to 30 or so volts, is that normal? I thought it should goe no higher than 14v, but my volt gauge on my dash stays consistant. [ 13. Boost-n-Juice
Would this cause the car to just all of sudden shut off?
Akula
That sounds like a bad regulator. You shouldn't have more than 14 volts at rev.
Tractor
Is that the voltage you get in alot of places around the car? Like in the cig lighter, and say at the lights and stuff it should be, but I figured I'd throw it out there just in case. If so the regulator is bad and I wouldn't run it like that for very long. Yes it could shut down the car. The ECU probably has a built in surge protection.
