And I'm 99% sure that's the case on a 97 Z24 cavalier. And FWIW, growing up my dad taught me to ALWAYS let a car cool down before doing a tune-up, but he has primarily worked with 1960's-era Fords and air-cooled volkswagens so his experience may not translate. But I feel pretty confident saying that if you do the job right, in a garage, and at least 20 minutes after shutting the engine off, nothing bad will happen.
