The best way to be comfortable in winter driving is by having fun with your vehicle and knowing what it can do it all situations. More people need to drive at the limits of there vehicles design. All winter while I'm driving my 4x4 or my RWD truck I'm at its limits 90% of the time so that I can be the one in control.

Also on those extra bad days reducing a vehicles tire pressure and increasing weight will help alot. I usually shovel driveway snow into the bed and drop to around 15 to 20psi in the RWD.
