Police Going After 'Superspeeders'

High Rates Of Speed Concerning Police

As the holiday weekend begins, state troopers are on high alert for a growing breed of so-called "superspeeders."

Police say superspeeders are drivers who top more than 100 mph or drive 20 to 40 miles over the speed limit.

In 1993, state troopers said they stopped 400 superspeeders in Ohio.

Last year that number tripled to more than 1,200, police said.

Police say faster cars, better roads and better radar detectors are the reason for increased speeders.

I spend 75% of my work time in a car and I notice that most of the really fast speeders are driving SUV's. Not saying I don't like them its just that why do they do it? Then there are the BMW drivers, but mostly its SUV's going 80+ alot of times 90+

With all there higtech crap, i still managed to get from 275 to 270 in 46min(84miles - 109.56mph avg), AND do the 270 belt in 29min(56miles - 115.86mph avg) in the Z24.

What i find amusing is how awesome cops think they are at driving. I have yet to see a cop do anything worth a lick at ANY autoX event or during any hot-lapping. Youd think the city/state would realize that the guys doing these sports are the ones who will end the perfect streak on Americas Wildest Police Chases.

When I drive cross country, I set the cruise at about 110-120 across the great plains. If you're doing 140 and you pass a cop, dont stop, just maintain or speed up, get off at the next exit and hide, they wont catch you. The average cop chopper cant go much faster. I hear that "radio" stuff is fast, though. ;)

I will cruise around town in the probe around 85 mph. Not much faster then that. I figure I have a decent chance of getting slowed down if I see an officer. Also seems like that is the average speed that the fast lane likes to travel. I made way to many 140 mph blasts in the mustang this summer. But those were for 40 rolls for short distances.

Stock, 108... theres a simple bypass one can, and has performed so that you can run out the gears ;)

To be clear on my lil "Cops graemlins/finger.gif "

I dont hate the police. Im glad we have police to stop people from doing stupid crap like i used to do. Ive been drown down on before while installing my stereo at 11pm... dumb thing to do, but i did it. I was cuffed and put in the car and all that crap. After proving my residence and them running the tags and seeing my licence and insureence card... they let me out and appoligized. I wasnt upset, they were doing thier jobs. GO TAX DOLLARS!

I just think cops think they always have the upper hand... and if you count the radio, i guess they do... but in driving, cops are not at the top of the food chain like they think they are. The "autoX sluts" and "lap monkies"... i fall in there somewhere... will put a cop in his/her place in a car real quick.

I was witness to this, but after 1 second all I was able to see was 550rwhp and tailights. It's sweet driving next to a car that breaks loose at 40 and when it's hot and completely dry out.

Channel 3 in Cleveland is talking about "superspeeders" like me this week. Superspeeders are the new mass hysteria flavor of the November sweeps. The hysteria will pass just like the Gahanna Lion, shark attacks, West Nile virus, killer bees, 270 Sniper, etc.

Yeah, hard to do isnt it? First 100mph blast today since oct/03. I am a pussy driver now, see 80 and slow down, kind of a good thing though.
