SquirrelyNutsDSP
So I've decided to paint my engine bay myself and I have a compressor that will suffice. My question is, can anyone suggest a decent yet affordable gun worth buying, and where might I get it along with some paint? I'm actually getting somewhere close to putting this engine in, so before I do, paint must be done.
street pilot
get a *HVLP gravity fed gun. If you get one with a small can, they are usually cheaper since they are touch up guns. How much are you looking to spend? [ 13. January 2005, 01:35 PM: Message edited by: Innocuous ]
Ziggy1647545504
You'll need more than just the gun. You'll need a pressure regulator, and a water trap at the very least. For the amateur, I think you could get pretty positive results with an economy gun from one of the parts stores. Maybe look at Harbor Freight? 88lx5oh
hvlp gun.. you can get a devilbiss finish line for $167.. nice gun. yes you will need a regulator, and a water trap would be great to have. paint wise.... PPG drys nice, and is a very easy paint to work with. also the cost isnt bad at all either. and not only jsut paint, but you need hardener, reducer, activator.. blah blah blah... stuff cna get costly... if your not planning on duin any more paint work ever, maybe jsut think about prepping your engine bay then take it somewhere. prepping for paintwork will drastically decrease your cost for the work to be done. Guest charlie
HVLP. I picked one up at smyth paint center for $75 and have painted two cars with it. Works great. I have since moved up to a Devilbiss. -Charlie
