zeitgeist57
This sounds shady, but... My ignition cylinder is on the fritz. It will allow the engine to turn over, but it's not sending a signal to the distributor (ignition module) to run the engine. I am chewing up the plastic cover over my steering column trying to pop it out and manually hotwire the truck. If I can get it running, then I'll either replace the key cylinder or work some sort of two switch ignition system up (one master ON/OFF switch, one spring-loaded starter switch). Can someone help me here? If it's too sensitive, can someone PM me?
Dave1647545494
in a chevy truck the lock cylider moves a metal rod that runs down the steering colum to the actual ignition switch if you can get the rod loose push the switch maunualy and see if it will start if it won't the switch needs replaced. I woulda told you on the phone but I had to think about it and then double check in a service book. also check and make sure the clutch start switch is good some switches kill the starter and some just kill the ignition. hth
