SupraGlue
Can anyone let me know anywhere locally I can find a 12v 40amp relay? I need a DPST or DPDT type. Radio Shack does NOT have anything with that much current carrying capacity.
slow4now
I know this sounds obvious, but I would call up an electricians supply store. They may have what you need.

CornerCarver
An electrical supply store would have one. But it would be exspensive. And it wouldn't be made for a car, it would be an industial relay like I would use at Budwieser. I would check at places that install alarms and in car sound systems. If you can't find one there you might have to get it at an electic supply store. If it comes down to that let me know, because I can get stuff at contractor rates. Plus I know exactly what you would need.
Nitrousbird
Both NAPA and Autozone offer relays that may work for you. I got my 30amp relay I use for my electric water pump at NAPA. It usually gets a bit more difficult finding relays bigger than 30amp.

I found some very cool solid state relays online -- "only" $83.00 for the 40amp ones. 40A is probably overkill, but it's for two fuel pumps, so it's going to be under a constant load. 30A units in this app have been known to fail. The power lead is 10 gauge, btw. smile.gif
