Guest nevarmore
Going to the mechanic to pickup and pay for them replacing my timing set. It was $500 all in, and this is a shop that many of my friends and thier families go to because they do good work for lower prices, so if youre getting in on 90,000 miles replace it yourself for a lot less money and a lot less headache. Over the phone my mech said there was a slight knock (i dont think it knocked before the sprocket went). They also warned that there could be valve damage, I don't know if the gear going would have caused that or my parking lot diagnosis. They also pulled the oil pan and cleaned it out in case there were any loose bits that worked down there. What signs do I need to watch for that would indicate that when the sprocket went it took other parts of the engine with it?
