Guest SmOkEn Z28
i have a 95z28. mods-->(k&n intake and filter, bbk headers, no cat., hooker muffler.) after doin that to my car it just seems like it lost some horse power. the car just doesn't seem as fast as it was when it was stock. i was thinking and some people told me that i should get a fuel pressure regulator and crank it up. we were thinking that all the mods done to it are just to free the motor up with more air and getting it flowing better. i was wondering since i did that, that maybe its not getting enough fuel now and that i need to crank it up a little to even it out and then i would be able to feel the difference in the mods i put on. well i was was just wanting some suggestions. Boost-n-Juice
You shouldn't need an adjustable fuel regulator. The mods you did will gain HP and typically you lose torque when you free up air flow. It should pull harder on top end and lose on low end. Guest stevil
My car feels slower driving normally, but at the track its obviously faster. Do you go to the track, or is this a SOTP measurement of slowness? Got a cutout? When I open up my cutout, I can feel a loss in torque, it feels slower... but the gain in HP makes up for it, and the car is actually faster. I think you need to program the PCM for an AFPR anyways. Otherwise, I think the PCM won't add anymore fuel, because it uses the MAF, O2 sensors, etc. to figure out the fuel/air ratio to use. If you have LT1 Edit or something, then go for it I guess, even though it probably won't make the car feel faster. My guess is you lost some torque due to a really great flowing exhaust setup, but probably gained HP... go to a track and find out for a few bucks before spending alot of money. --------------------------- http://stevil.easy48.com/images/columbusracing/pontiac.gifhttp://stevil.easy48.com/images/dumb/headbang.gifhttp://stevil.easy48.com/images/dumb/crossbonesgif.gif http://stevil.easy48.com/images/columbusracing/gt3_sig_small.jpg http://stevil.easy48.com/images/dumb/crossbonesgif.gifhttp://stevil.easy48.com/images/dumb/headbang.gifhttp://stevil.easy48.com/images/columbusracing/pontiac.gif
ORourke
Welcome to the joys of owning an LT1. If it hasn't been replaced recently, do your fuel filter. It takes about 10 minutes. If its not a tune-up type issue(plugs, wires etc...) its probably just being tempremental. I notice my car feels great one day, and slow as hell the next. It might also be pulling harder on the top end so the intial acceleration doesn't seem as intense by comparision. Check for sparks on your plugs and wires if you recntly installed headers, a lot of people(including me) have burnt plug wires due to the stock routing being so close to the primaries. If you've been to the track before go back and compare before and after trap speeds. If your trap speed went up don't worry about it. On a side note, an AFPR doesn't make much difference after about 10 minutes because the computer changes the long term fuel corrections to make up for the change in pressure. The computer will also correct for any changes caused by your mods, unless you swap cams or something like that.

SamZman
You need to get out to a track to tell what it's doing for sure. I'm sure fuel isnt an issue though. Your mods don't warrant an injector/fuel pump change yet. And as said already a fp regulator is not necessary. I have a few mods more than you and don't have one.. Do you have a low temp thermostat? Fan mod? If not, I'd get those done. Heat will make it feel much slower.. Or do you feel a miss? If so explain. Still I say get it to the track. Tape it up with some electrical tape and it should be good. I know last year my car had a miss, was running SLOW and it turned out to be a burnt plug wire. I went from ~104 traps granny shifting, taped up the wire and went ~111 shifting easy..
