SiColin Posted July 2, 2003 Report Share Posted July 2, 2003 my friend has a 93 civic dx. it came without a tach. and i was wondering how hard it would be to hook up an autometer one with a shift light. how do i go about installing this for him. im new at this wire shit and have no idea how to go about in doing this. in help would be useful thanks alot in advance. If your frined has some sort of aftermarket ignition box there should be a tach output on the box. White wire- goes to the fuse or wire that comes on when you turn the lights on the vehicle. Find the wire that feeds the dash lights and tap into it. Black wire-is a ground. Make sure it's a good one. Red wire- a 12 v source that is hot only when the ignition is on.
