Koritina018273
I need to get ahold of a Ford C4 transmission from, I believe, a 2.3L Pinto. It may be in more than just that. It should bolt right up to the 2.3L Turbo Ford, or so I understand. I also need the Driveshaft from a T5 Turbo Coupe and the Mustang Rear Crossmember (tranny mount). A4LD's are lame. So it's time for something a lot better. Let me know what you've got, or can get. EDIT: Change in plans, harder to find, but hopefully a lot quicker to get done. [ 28. Buckeye1647545503
why don't you put a c-4 or a od unit in it? That car is to big to use for road racing, and the auto with a stick computer would be faster.
88lx5oh
you dont need hydraulic clutch.. use the same setup a mustang has, its way easier. and cheaper. T-5 Transmission and Bellhousing shifter Clutch Pressure Plate Flywheel and bolts Driveshaft clutch cable clutch fork throwout bearing Clutch and Brake pedals (get out of fox body stang) T-5 Transmission Crossmember ECU (you dont need) And the interior shifter panel (around the shifter knob) i did the complete swap in my 88 stang for roughly $1500 i used my stock driveshaft from my auto it worked fine. talk to RL he did this swap in his cougar... same deal
Koritina018273
As far as putting the C-4 in, I gave the car to the girl, and she wants a manual. I think she'd also like a hydraulic cluth better in the long run, but I'll find out. Doing the swap in a V6/V8 is a bit different than in a Turbo 4. In looking at some web pages that talk about the swap and from what I've seen the A4LD is a little longer than the T-5, so the driveshaft from a T-5 is needed. Koritina018273
I haven't heard that you can use the C3 Bellhousing before, but I'll look into it. I may have already found the C4 transmission. So all I'd need is the bellhousing (fun fun).
Koritina018273
TTT tongue.gif I have the transmission now, just need the bell housing. A little more info has come up with the bell housing information. I need a Bell Housing with a Casting number of D42P to fit perfect. I believe those came off of 2.3L Pintos from 74 - 76 best bet is a Pinto Wagon I hear. The other options are C3 bells. I believe I've found a pretty good listing of the cars I can use the bell housings off of: Mustang II w/2.3L I4 Capri 85 - 86 Auto TurboCoupe (C3) 85 - 89 XR4Ti (C3) And I think I saw a stepped dowel kit that will allow fitament of a 2.0L C4 Bell onto the 2.3L block.
