Science Abuse
The zinc plated stuff you work with, does it squeak? i.e. two plated parts making contact, do they squeak? loudly? puzzling over a problem at work, wondering if our stuff aint the only thing that does. Total Sign
Yes, I do. I don't think they squeak.
BiG BeN
zinc parts suck bad for weatherproofness. stainless or galv if you're in a pinch. but zinc on galv or stainless will not play nice.
Science Abuse
hot dipped galv is the way to go, but it costs more. We buy stuff by the millions, so 4 cents a part ads up. I'd be cheaper to get the zinc with 4% or so more AL, making it a bit harder. Galv is actualy just zinc, it just bonds with the metal via a different proccess. Plating is just fancy paint. Tinman
If it squeeking, it'll wear through the plating eventually. Any possibility of using either hard plastic piece for a bushing or even a torrington bearing if it's a rotational movement? On a side note galvanized on galvanized is the most slippery combination of readily availible metals for two sufaces riding on each other.
