Buck531
What would cause this? http://bucky.kicks-ass.net/pics/cam/1.jpg http://bucky.kicks-ass.net/pics/cam/2.jpg http://bucky.kicks-ass.net/pics/cam/3.jpg if you can't see it, on one of the cam jounals, it's worn down. Looks like it's black, then orange and then the metal after that. Should I be concerned? I'm selling/sold the cam, just don't know what to expect. Buck531
That cam is short! At least I know how to drive a manual tranny. :woowoo: Anyone have any ideas?
Lustalbert
Pehaps its a plating to help shed oil that has flaked off? Machining mark from the factory? Really have no idea though.
Guest powers
well the question I have is what is the concern? it's in a non contact area and to be truthfull it's kind of hard to tell what is going on from those pics.
Tinman
Are you sure the orange color is not just a factory paint marking? Try to rub or scratch the color off and see if you can see the dark gray cast color under it.

I looked at it again tonight and yes, I can flake off the orange with my finger, if I do that, then the bare metal shows up.

skold
that cam is fine it looks like the orange is just surface rust, put some oil on it and take a high grit sandpaper and lightly rub it off.
Buck531
Old regrind??? Is that Zooms cam? Try contacting him if so. yep, it's the GT1 cam I bought last year. Did ask him about it and show pics. He said it was fine. I just don't like how it came off like that.
