madmax85
yes its true i think they are the 1st pop-up HID's in projector housings on a talon. http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c150/madmax852/talon/hid1.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c150/madmax852/talon/hid2.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c150/madmax852/talon/IMG_0543.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c150/madmax852/talon/IMG_0544.jpg any ?'s just ask

Guest turboteg2nv
It doesn't look bad, just different than what you are used to seeing. The increased light output from HID's will make it worth it. What model did you retro-fit those from? What bulbs are you using (ex; 7500k)? Nice work
verse
I would rather have crappier lights than to look as ugly as that.
Jelloman4571647545499
doesnt look to bad nice the prettiest thing but hell it could look worse. props man
NTHER91
the hoseing on the actuall buld is kinda ugly i think thats why you mostly seem them frenched in but the overall fab work and stuff looks solid
Guest JsANeon
Not a fan of the look( maybe make a custom fiberglass housing around it), im doing retros aswell with the Acura TL lights, its just the prices that kinda have me on a delay! Mike_Shepard
I was thinking about doing this to my pop-ups but using fiberglass to make it look like one peice

Eclipsed8301647545502
It doesn't really matter, becusae when the lights are off, the housing go down so you don't see the housing. When the lights are on and the housing is up, you won't be able to see the projector surrroudning anyways becuse of the light.
dansevo
Nice work man, You gotta start somewhere. I like the other posts on making a fiberglass housing that would be an improvement but you got it started now its just improving the looks. Anyways for now the lights are only flipped up at night so you dont see the details you just see the (first that i know of) Talon with hids. That would make anyone that knows about hids turn their head and take a second look.
madmax85
well thanks for the input (good and bad) thats what i am looking for. i wanna know what people think and get ideas to to what would look better. for now its all going to be black so that it blends in and the only thing you will see is the lense. but keep letting me know what you think. smokin5s
Shawn, what is that picture supposed to be of?
Nitrousbird
I think if you paint it all black (including the trim ring to the HID light, and behind were red overspray shows up that you don't have covered) it will look a lot better. A piece of Lexan over everything might make it look better as well. I think HID's would be nice to have on my car, but the work, and more importantly, the cost of doing so isn't worth it at all to me.
smokin5s
if the housing is of all wood, then be careful of it dry rotting or holding water when it rains.
madmax85
thats definetly an idea with the laxan and paint, and i only have 80 bucks in the whole coversion so not really that bad. there were a few freebies though. yeah i cruised through hooters. i was on my way somewhere and i jsut wanted to cruise through. i will be back tonight though

EGOKILLER
hey chris, they deff. look different you need to paint it all black then it should look alot better. do you have them all wired up and working? if so post a pic of them on at night. -andy-
GonneVille
Maybe adjust them so that they don't open all the way, and put the HIDs in at an angle? Like Monster does with their 1st gen Miata 5.0 conversions. I've never liked pop-ups, they kill your nighttime MPG and just look awkward when they are up. Personally, I'd have integrated the HIDs into the parking light lens, and then filled the hood holes.
Science Abuse
I would rather have crappier lights than to look as ugly as that. If they're up, they should be on, in which case anyone looking will be blinded.
