Kevin R.
Okay, got into an argument with this dumbass kid at school. Take an 04 Cobra, $35,000 to spend on car and mods. vs. 05 Saleen, stock. Who would win?

Bhobs
uh yeah 04 cobra.. especially modded. a. saleen is jsut a 3v sohc gt, wiht a blower b. cobra is 4v, dohc wiht a blower c. you can mod the cobra.. pulley, exhuast, chip, etc. low 12s ,high 11s d. saleen low 13s ,high 12s
JaSSon
You're under estimating the 3 valve motor. A bolt on '05 GT will do low 13's high 12's. The S281 SC sports 400 hp/420tq and the S281 extreme sports 500hp. The S281SC should be on the same level as an '04 svt. The S281 Extreme is in a different class than an '04 SVT. Once you get past basic bolt ons, both cars will be expensive to mod, with the S281SC being the most expensive to mod (still uses a stock GT short block). MaTS1200
I don't know how fast an S281 Extreme is. I do know that my car ran consistent 12.2 -12.3 @ 117-118 on bald F1's with $850.00 in Mods.
Dr. Pomade
With $35K to spend, you could: 1. Buy a used 04 Cobra for about $28K; 2. Use the remaining $7K to either: a. Go with a pulley, chip, ported apten, and an 80-shot of nitrous set-up; or b. Go with a Kenne Bell or Whipple set-up; and 3. Own that stock 05 badly. Take's a chebby fan to get off topic, yeah go ahead and put that money into a shelled Vette, you may beat both stangs, but you wont be driving it to work, on a trip, or have air, totally different class for what your suggesting. Saleen = overpriced, overated, you pay alot for a body kit, blower, and a heavier car Btw the Saleen Extreme is I believe $60,000+

villision1647545496
I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that Saleen was more into handling and roadracing rather than drag racing. IF that previous statement is true, everyone is comparing apples or oranges. Like I said I could be wrong. Ty
SPLN SUX
i didnt know you had to drive it to work ... I did hear that the 572's have a pretty usable power band though... im sure the MPG's will suck, but it might be drivable.
Kevin R.
Ya, basically we are talking off the showroom floor here. Argument started with how I didn't like the 05 look, and how the 04s looked so much meaner. He then proceeded to tell me the 04's were pieces of shit somehow? I told him the 04 would own an 05, and he said "Well, how about the Saleen?" I giggled and asked my midget friend for some powder, and he took and bitch smack to the face. Got-Boost?
It isn't going to matter but which SALEEN model are you talking about. Considering you can't even get into a base model SALEEN (GT w/body kit) for $35,000. I would say the Cobra wins on that alone. I don't know what he is smoking considering the stock 03/04 Cobra owns the GT base SALEEN. The COBRA wins bang for buck hands down. Just smack him for the rest of us please....
