you can fit many more women on a 98ft carbon fiber boat then on any cigarette boat. ;)

the Hydrofoil sail boat look like it would be alot of fun. i grew up sailing (my mother went into labor while my parents were on the boat) and in the summers i made money teaching sailing lessons, best summer job ever.

i miss my Nacra

When we were out on Alum sunday, they were jsut finishing up a catamaran race, saw alot of well equipped Mystere 4.3's. Those lil fuckers could move, and appeared to be all single hand trapese boats. You aught to get back into it. ;)

my parents still have our S2 7.9 and i would love to steal/borrow it from them and start sailing again, i really miss it. every nice sat/sunday afternoon was spent sailing until i/my parents moved. girls love sail boat because they can just lay out and tan. i do need to get back into racing cats or my parents S2 its less expensive than racing cars. :)

i dont really like the trimaran design (i like to be able to move around) but it still looks like a blast

It's always better to know a guy with a boat then to own one, wanna be best freinds? :D

That's a fixed keel boat, right?

no, it can be raised and lowered. we actually had some problems with it last year, but still managed to get her leaning low. for anyone who hasent sailed its not that fast(we dont go more than 15knots), but you get some strong wind, your boat is leaning over sooo far you are inches from the water. i kind of equate it with dragging knee on a bike. It more of a finesse than anything, as opposed to powerboats where its hold the throttle down.(but i still like powerboating too)

and yea they are not cheap to maintain...luckly it's our famies, so everyone takes responsibility.

nothing like a grill at the docks on a windy spring afternoon

Your catilina will not go more than 6 knots. My parents have a racing S2 7.9 (a very fast boat) and i cant remember the last time we did more than 8 knots.

6 knots? are you drunk my good sir?

get 20-25mph winds with the keel down all the way, the genowa up and yove got atleast 13-14knots..GPS is a handy tool. concerning 15knots and above, not all the time every year bu we almost certainly have hit it in the 8years weve had it on errie.

and as far as your parents boat not breaking 8, you might want to change who is at the helm...that should be a fast boat.

No passive agressive flaming in the Sailing thread. :p

Keep in mind, the cats were praced inland, no 25mph sustained winds down here. A tight cat could probably pull 8 knots off 7.5 knots of wind.

Its all in good fun..for some reaon i dont have a smilie insert list.

down here where? we used to go to St Johns lake before errie. man made with the cut down trees still in the bottom of the 12ft deep lake. low water= trouble.

I often have thought about taking a spring or fall off from school and going out to san francisco or miami for a few months and do the charter touristy day sales (rent a sailboat with full crew and go at it) . You could learn a shit ton and get paid to sail.

j24 = one of the sexier boats to come out of the 70s. Did you get to use the trapese much on that 420?
