Alex1647545498
My read/write rate is below 1x. Just wondering if this is a sign of drive failing or might be something else?
thorne
if the writes are low it could be shitty media grab a cleaning kit try that if it don't work new drives are cheap unless its a laptop
Rally Pat
Yeah, you can pick up a nice OEM Toshiba DVDR/RW Burner from Micro Center for about $
Alex1647545498
Yeah, I thought it's the media too but the read is just as slow. Then I put the same disk in my other dvd drive on the same IDE channel and it reads fine... I guess I'll be buying another one today. I just wanted to confirm my diagnoses. Thanks guys. street pilot
My first guess would be the burning software or burner drivers.
Cougar1647545494
I wouldn't recommend the Samsung 16x DVD burner at MicroCenter. It's cheap, but mine as well as two others I know had them. They work great for a while and then crap out.
Alex1647545498
I got replacement. Fixed the problem. I never had one crap out on me like this before so wasn't sure. It would still do everything... just very slowly.
