Scotty2Hotty
Quick question again for the F-body folks, IF I remember correctly, didn't I hear some word on the block about the Ford 8.8 swapping into the 4th Gen. F-body? Lookin at the S-60 that's out from strange now, but just lookin at all the options. Steer me right if I'm wrong.
Rice Eater
I personally have never heard that one. I have heard that although they are strong, that the 60 is much less efficient than any other option. I'm saving for a 9" but if a 12bolt came along for a good price I'd go that way. Guest Removed
swaping in a 8.8... no i havent heard of that.. 12 bolt or 9"
MrMeanGreen
The 8.8s are mass produced for our cars, and can be picked up from sellers on LS1Tech for under $2k, three or four channel.

Stampede
What's the deal with the 8.8 rear ends, ford's or other? Thanks.
Rice Eater
It appears from ls1tech that people are fabbing 8.8ford rears for GM f-bodies. I guess the question is...Are they strong enough and cheap enough?
speedytang
8.8 can hold 1200hp with the correct axles and diff.
Guest Removed
mines mainly stock and been putting up with a big block on a 225 shot!
Rice Eater
OK sounds like they're strong enough, what about cost? A Moser 9" for an F-body is about $2k less brakes.
Wease
I had an 8.8 in my Formula. I sold it to another local F-Body guy, but he's not on this board much. The other thing you have to think of when comparing it to the 9 inch is weight. The 8.8 weighed just a bit more than my stock 10 bolt, but it will put up with a beating. There were 8 second Mustangs using the rear I bought. Got it for around $2200 at the time...
