Bird69
Does the shift linkage bracket mount sandwiched between the drain pain and the tranny or on the outside of the drain pain?
Tinman
Outside. Will will need two spacers between the pan and bracket also so the bracket does not crush the small lip on the pan flange.

Ditto. In a pinch, several washers stacked can be used to create the spacer.
Bird69
ah ha, thank you so much man. when we took the pan off, i swore it was sandwiched and that looked wrong.
Bird69
there's a whole other set of problems. we were putting an aftermarket pan on and i think i stripped out the threads on the transmission. i could get the old bolt to tighten, but the new one would tighten so far then break loose. edit i feel like a complete idiot, i was an airplane mechanic for 5 years in the Marines and it wasn't my first bolt. nurkvinny
A longer bolt through the trans rail with a washer and lock nut can be used if you stripped the threads. (temp fix)
Bird69
what's a more perminant fix without having to drill the hole bigger and retapping to the next size up? or is that the perminant fix?
