That has to be about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Those things must suck to get out.

 

 

air hammer, wide chisel head, shear the tops of the rivets off, take the punch type head, knock the rest of the rivets out, bolt in the new ball joints.

 

Ive have done these in 2 hours before both sides. after you do so many you get a pattern down :D

 

(91 formula)and there are alot of ball joints out there that you press in and out, then there are some, You have too buy the whole fucking control arm. :(

Yeah, the front arms on the B5 VAG chassis (Jetta, A4, S4) are known to go bad easy. The boots rip easy. You can't buy just the boots or joints. I guess that's why a set of eight control arms and the outter tie rod ends are ~$450 now (that's cheap for these cars), because they've had to make and sell so many.
