No Pay Grade- Base Salary Band 28-$29,948 Hours (ie. Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm) Monday-Friday, 7:00 am-3:30 pm; overtime as necessary Terms of Employment Full-Time Requisition Number 0483 Job Description Supports the operation of the Discovery Exchange Cafe for service; sells beverages, breakfast and deli items; brews coffee and makes espresso and speciality drinks; orders supplies and receives deliveries. Greets and serves customers to promote Cafe DX sales by providing fun, fast, and friendly service. Ensures that customers are educated on our products and services, and answers customer's questions regarding coffee blends, preparation, and product freshness. Follows all Cafe DX drink recipes and procedures. Maintains responsibility for accurately ringing up transactions on cash register. Receives payments and makes change. Follows register procedures and completes records for financial controls. Maintains a clean and sanitary customer service work area. Cleans counters, coffee equipment, service area, and floor. Washes pans, trays, and utensils, and takes out trash. Assists with opening the cafe' and balances cash drawer. Trains new staff and proves on-the-job-training. Participates in inventory counting and recording. Continues to learn and educate themselves on whole bean knowledge, coffee blends, tea products, bakery items, coffee brewing, and blended products. Supports Cafe DX operations by reviewing environment and key business indicators to identify problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement to acheive operational goals. Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as required to meet workload demands. Performs other related duties as required. Works weekends and other odd hours as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Must have a High School Diploma or GED and 1 to 3 years progressively responsible experience in a Cafe. Must have knowledge of Espresso and specialty drinks, cafe retailing, merchandising, standard practices and procedures, computer applications, basic mathematics, and cash handling procedures. Must possess a customer-comes-first attitude and have the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers, students, and guests of the college.
