wnaplay1647545503
This may be a stupid question, but if your car blows a head gasket, is repairing it as simple as putting on a new gasket?
Guest Removed
sometimes...unless the head surface is warped, or cracked.. plus its a good idea too figure out why it is blown! sometimes the head gets damaged, ive seen some blow and hydro lock a cylinder and bend a connecting rod! Farkas
A headgasket can be damaged or ruined a couple different ways. There are instances where over time they just deteriorate and simply need replaced. Also for whatever reason if your engine endures excessive heat it can cause a headgasket to go because of head warpage. I'm sure there are more reasons but both I have dealt with personally. 351mach11647545510
Always take the head and have it checked +1,000. I took mine in and had them replace the valves and seals while they checked it and replaned the surface. I think it cost me around 250ish, give or take. also, could blow from overheating (most likely caused by failed water pump, thermostat or loss of coolant) or weak material/poor design (like the sunfire I had to do, real common problem)
