Guest Mushijobah
Yes, I am taking a class for photoshop/flash. Some guys on here are very advanced in photoshop I have noticed. Can anyone give me some pointers on the magic wand tool? Suposidly it is sweet, when used correctly, for selecting objects in an existing photo. I suck at it, and do not understand how to add/delete dumb selections the computer makes. Any detailed help would be greatly appreciated. Kevin R.
I personally hate the magic wand tool, especially for selecting things. It works kick ass thought if you have a dark object with say a white background. Most of the time I just use the lasso (not the magnetic one which also sucks). Kevin R.
Here is a good site. Has to do with cars but you can apply the ideas to other things as well. http://www.digimods.co.uk/tutorials/tutorials.htm

sol740
Magic wand is okay for selecting shadowed and non-shadowed areas separately as well. Particularly if you're trying to do a pseudo-vector piece. Polygonal lasso and pen-tool are your best friends though.
