Dr. Apex
WTH is do those things have under the hood?? Just the 5.5v8?? Turbo maybe?? I had one pull out behind me on the way home as I was doing about 45mph and within 3-4 secs was just gone!! Those AMG cars accelerate like hell! Supplicium
I saw a E65 AMG yesterday, I didnt even think it was out yet. It sounded soooooo mean!
Mojoe
Almost all AMG's are Super charged.
Dr. Apex
I didn't hear a whine, though it's a Benz and thus I'm sure a quiet car. I know the a couple of them are supercharged and one is a twin-turbo V-12!!!!
NOS50
5.4 V8 362 hp and 13.9 1/4 mile. That was an 05 model.
Mojoe
I know the E65 is Bi turbo. I've never heard the SC on any of the AMG's I've seen or been around.
Kevin R.
5.4 V8 362 hp and 13.9 1/4 mile. That was an 05 model. Weak 1/4 mile time.
Dr. Apex
5.4 V8 362 hp and 13.9 1/4 mile. That was an 05 model. For that kind of hp that 1/4 is really low, and someone screwed up running a time like that, I sat that one today take off and though it's hard to guess but I'd say a high 12sec car. Joe, the roommate's woman has a C230 compressor, you have to turn the radio off and really listen for it to hear it, they really keep them quiet. Jelloman4571647545499
i looked at the new bi turbo v12 edition. It was only 200k. Germain Benz at easton had it.
1Quik7
the C55 is also a beast of a car, so that 1/4 ET is prolly correct, it takes a lot to get that tank moving. my C32 is rather fast for a 4-door grocery getter, you can hear the blower if you know what to listen for, it pulls really great from 60-100. Dr. Apex
The CL55 is a big car, the car I saw the "C55" was much smaller. Interestingly I can't find this car on Benz' site at all, now I'm wondering if was something else rebadged maybe. Dammit, where's Benz guy at?? 1Quik7
oops...sorry, yeah i was thinking about the CL55, i love that car. anyways the C55 is what the C32 was 'upgraded' to. they dropped the boosted V6 and put in the V8 instead, so i'd imagine that since my car is boosted and the new one isn't i'd prolly make more power under the curve, hence the marginally better 1/4 ET, but it could be due to track conditions. they are supposed to be fairly respective to one another. here's a good write-up about it. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/Followup/articleId=103424
93berettagt
Yeah I don't know about older ones. But 06/07 the CLK63 in just that a 6.3 no turbo or supercharger it is, I think 508 hp or something like that. Samething in the CLS63(my fav) but has 25 hp on the CLK. Identical in the E63. The SLK55 for some odd reason is only 350 hp but it's ass wants too just slide around all day with that. And the S65 and SL65 are V12 bi-turbo at 609 hp(i think) and almost 700 lbs torque. As for the CL I dont know what the new AMG is like I haven't seen one yet(but the CL600 is FAST). As for prices the lowest is the SLK at 85K. The CLS,CLK,E are all around 110K, and the SL and S are 200K. Happy shopping:)
ChevyMan1972
Yep My dad's boss (Jim Head) has SL65 coupe V12 twin turbo....its hawt!! Dan
caseyctsv
I played around with a guy in a SL55AMG last year on 161. It was a sweet looking / sounding car. I could tell the guy was a little pissed his 120K+ roadster could not pull away from me cleanly. They are impressive. To have all of that power without having to be loud or any other vices. Got-Boost?
5.4 V8 362 hp and 13.9 1/4 mile. That was an 05 model. MotorTrend ran 13.2 @ 107mph http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedan/112_0411_2005_mercedes_benz_c55_amg/specs_price.html I saw a E65 AMG yesterday, I didnt even think it was out yet. It sounded soooooo mean! Are you sure it wasn't a E63....? (507HP N/A) They don't make a E65 unless you are talking about a S65 or SL65 which is the Bi-Turbo 604HP/738TQ.... Not many of the AMG's are supercharged anymore. The last couple generation big cars had the blowers but only the SL55 and GL55 come with them now. The only other way to get them like that is the specialty built Benz's like Brabus, Kleeman, Renntech, etc....
Science Abuse
Re; 1/4mile times. The cars are heavy, and AMG motors make gobs or torque. Control the torque and youcan't launch hard. Try to launch hard and you just spin...or piss off the traction control (which may indeed be the worst on the hi-dollar planet). These are definately "roll-cars". The CL55 is a big car, the car I saw the "C55" was much smaller. The C55 is a 4 door, mid sized sedan. The CL55 is a 2 door variant. The S classe is where they start getting properly large. Also, you not going to find the C55 on the benz site this year (frowny face), look at 2006. The CL55 brings 493hp, CL65 brings 604 from its v12. And also, there are smaller shops that tweak the Benz's.

Got-Boost?
I've never seen or heard of a E65 unless it was one of the tuner brands. They don't make an E65 AMG from the factory. The 65 is the V12 bi-turbo engine but it's not available in the E-chassis currently from MB. At least not yet... Was this the car.... http://www.tuningblogger.de/uploaded_images/Mercedes_E_63_AMG_Limousine_2006_2 http://www.tuningblogger.de/uploaded_images/Mercedes_E_63_AMG_Limousine_2006_1
Got-Boost?
This is the 2006 C55 AMG that they no longer make. WWD JUNK
defiently the first 1. and had the 6.5 on the side. Then it wasn't the first one. It had to be an S65, or an E55 or the new E63. Or you just need a little bit of lasik.
Dr. Apex
Man those look good, it definitely was a C55 I saw. Obviously Benz hasn't intended on them being drag cars, and I would guess that most people that want those simply want the acceleration they are capable of. Wish I could afford one, would make for a very fast and comfy daily driver.

Clifford Automotive
With in the week I will have an E55 AMG engine out of the car so we can take a look at it and see what its made out of.
