thorne
http://torrentfreak.com/this-is-how-we-catch-you-downloading/ This shit is real your guardian programs don't guard you. I've seen people in Columbus get there IP info subpoenaed. If you want to get something be safe, p2p leaves trails of what you do all over. This trail is not stored on your computer, it’s in the trackers. Dangerous--- Torrents (Private and public) Your IP can stay in trackers even after you've completed your download. The private networks are not safe, I simple password does diddly. Kazza/limewire/hotline - I've herd the argument I paid for lime wire its ok. Guess what if you paid for lime wire you’re an idiot. It don't protect shit all they did was sell you an application. That’s like saying coping DVDs for friends is not illegal since you bought the software to do it. Safer methods----- TOR (Slow but good) Onion routing uses a concept to hide where you come from. (Full TCP/IP stack anonymizer vs. a web anon service) TOR IS FREE News Groups http://www.newzleech.com or other bin search sites + good news servers. RR has a great one. You can get all the porn and "DEMO" software you need. Private trading among friends. I just thought I should post this info here. It would suck to hear about one of the CR guys getting in trouble for some stupid shit. This post is meant to educate, I do not endorse what the company’s do to bust people nor do I find it fair as in IP info is not 100% accurate for lots of reasons. Nor am I endorsing piracy. thorne
http://torrentfreak.com/do-p2p-blocklists-keep-you-safe/ Black lists help but are not perfect. But the article discusses that not using any almost guarntees your being watched.
Wease
I only use Torrents for porn (not that I'd ever watch porn ) and the paid version of Limewire for the occasional (once a month maybe?) song. So I'm not that worried...
Rally Pat
What is so wrong with torrents? I dont know about anybody else, but 90% of the time I am not downloading illegal things on torrents. I usually download Fansubs and TV shows. As long as TV shows arent being sold, it isnt illegal to redistribute them to other people.
Supplicium
It is pretty easy. Setup a wireless network access point, secure it. Download all you want to an external hard drive. Never burn it to a CD/DVD. If you see a fed at your door, unsecure your AP, destroy the external hard drive, and the hard drive in your computer. Get a lawyer Win Case/Lose all your porn. I have a great one for reading NZB files only... No news server browsing or anything. I can check it when I get home if you really want it. mmrmnhrm
As long as TV shows arent being sold, it isnt illegal to redistribute them to other people. Not true. A copyright's a copyright, even when the owner isn't making an active profit off it. Holding fansubs up as a counter-example doesn't hold water, as the majority of Japanese companies consider it a loss-leader. Try pulling that with an American show, and you won't find any sympathy in the courtroom. Newsgroups are awesome, but I hate paying to use it. There are free servers out there, they can just be a pain to find sometimes. Remember that NNTP is the protocol for usenet, so include that in your Google searches. Dr. Apex
Damn, I used to use Kazaa and Shareaza way back when. The few times I've downloaded anything were older movies off mininova.

sol740
I love torrents, they are good when ya need em. Though me and my friends just set up a private FTP with about 15 people and its all hosted on my friends company servers. Super quick and super easy. Each of us has enough decent content (i.e. porn, porn, porn, some music and movies, and porn) that we could literally download for weeks and not get it all. Also a good news readers is grabit. http://www.shemes.com/ I hardly gave enough info about anything to feel worried about sinking anyones ship. Flag my IP, my local media server hard drives are encased in thermite. Connected to a battery backup. Secondly the whole story was a lie I made up to make myself feel cool. I retract the whole statement and will try not to lie on the interweb anymore. Feel better ?
