Patrick
So I determined my alternator is going out. I have my senior prom Saturday. I need to take it. I'm not taking a Chevy Blazer or a Dodge Intrepid. Is there any way for a quick fix for it? I think the brushes are dirty on it, hopefully cleaning it would work. Any ideas? I will buy one if need be, but really just want a quick fix right now.
nurkvinny
Charge the battery really well, drive it there, then have a friend / parent come get it and drive it home for you and leave their vehicle.? Also, moving to Tech Help.

Guest Hal
I would buy a new one rather than take this one apart in an attempt to find the problem. Dirty brushes may be the problem, but, my guess is the brushes are simply too worn.
Patrick
I'll probably just pick a new one up at Napa today. Shouldn't be too hard of a fix.
99BlownYellowGT
Broken car = bad prom night! Just try to fix it or drive something else. Who cares what you go in anyway.

Guest thekingofcrunk17
is the altenator compacted or is it easy to get too?
Patrick
easy to get to, love that about rotaries. 5 minutes for spark plugs, maybe 20 for alternator. Hell people tear engines out and put new ones in in less than four hours then go race.
Guest thekingofcrunk17
oh cuse my 3000gt is so compacted it took me 3 hours to replace my altenator because i had to take half the damn car apart lol

Rally Pat
Sounds like a subie's spark plugs. 0_o dont know what you are talking bout there, Simmons. We get Legacy's at work all the time and the spark plugs on them are pretty accessible.
