launchin1st Posted May 11, 2007 Report Share Posted May 11, 2007 the first of my collection to go. 1972 datsun 240z. bought new in arizona in 72, moved to kentucky sometime in the 80's. car was sold to a sort of collector and put inside a heated shop for storage. there it sat, till dec of 06. i bought it( and others) and put it inside a unheated garage for storage. i had hoped to get it running and driving. but i have to sell a couple of cars rather quickly. so now, the car. this car is complete and has very little rust. but is in need of total restoration. the driver side rear lower wheel arch is the worst spot. it will need cut out and new metal welded in. the top deck plate(under the hatch) has a few small holes that could be patched or a whole new plate can be welded in. the pass quarter panel has some surface rust due to sitting in the sun in arizona for years causing the paint to crack. the pass side lower inner wheel arch has some rust that will need cut out and replaced. there are some minor surface rust spots on the underbody due to undercoating flaking off. none of these spots are serious. now, the good both bumpers are undented and straight. the battery tray has no rust holes. only some surface rust. the frame rails are in great shape with no rust. the floor boards are very clean with nothing more than surface rust. both doors are clean. the hood only has a thin layer of surface rust. the spare tire well only has surface rust from standing water(i moved it in the rain 420 miles.) all the lights are in good shape. all the glass is good. the grille is straight. engine turns over freely(oil was put in cylinders long ago.) has the good su carbs. the gas tank looks great on the out side. no visible rust. the interior is in ok shape. i know the dash is cracked, but has a cover. has 82 280zx wheels that are in good shape. the center console is in good shape. this car has a lot of potential. sr swap, rb swap, L28et swap. almost any v8 will fit in it. i can deliver anywhere in the columbus area for a small fee, or you can pick it up. car is just north of johnstown. i have many parts that help in the restoration that can be sold as a separate deal. 1500.00 no less.
