first time ive ever seen that happen... guess he didnt quite get the joke about using a torque wrench to tighen his lugs in between runs... they would have snapped in the pit rather than on the course. $50 wrench > what happend.

why tighten them when there wrong. No Cross threading is not like welding either.

supposedly the shop gave him standard lugnuts, not metric. so they fit and he DID torque them down with a torque wrench, there were witnesses to this. however, they didnt stay on because they were the wrong size. He was a veteran autocrosser and not an idiot. This is all what ive heard, i dont see how you could get any lugnut torqued down without realizing it was wrong. i guess it was just a really close standard size? i dunno. it really sucks though.
