Cobra VIN Question

I was wondering if anyone knew the VIN Numbers on the heads and block on a 93 Cobra? Thanks

I can tell you how to tell if the heads are GT40 cobra heads and as far as block,there is not alot of differences in the shortblocks but if the heads are GT40 if the block vin starts with F3 its probably a cobra motor.Give me a PM if ya want and I can get ya my number or call tyler hardesty he can get ahold of me.

Lots of ways to tell but are you looking at it in person or pictures...?

 

Some things to look for:

 

The Vin should read 1FACP42D6Pxxxxxx for the 93 Cobra. D = Cobra P = 1993

Vin is stamped on the block and transmission case.

The build date is stamped in Yellow paint on the radiator support.

 

Other visuals to look for:

Different front grill with running horse

Cobra badges of course (drivers side faces to the REAR of the car)

Different wheels 17X7.5

Rear brakes 10.07 disc (GT had 9" drums)

SVO style tail lights

Rocker extensions are different from the GT

Rear bumper different

Cobra badge on left rear hatch

4-pedistal rear spoiler/wing

LX 5.0L stainless tips

Shifter is a little different

Cobra written on the factory floor mats

 

Engine lots more but visually:

GT40 heads (GT cast on the head) 1.84"/1.54"

Cobra intake

65mm throttle body

70mm Mass Air Metere

24 lb. injectors

Smaller crank/water pump pullies

 

(Not visible without taking it apart)

1.72:1 roller rockers

Cobra cam

Recalibrated computer

T-5 tranny has phosphate-coated gears and stronger bearings

 

I'm sure I missed a few but those are the main things... :cool:

 

If all else fails call 1-800-FORD-SVT and they will tell you anything and confirm if it's a "real" COBRA if you have the VIN.

Short block is the same other than the Cobra Vin #, the only other way to tell is the GT forged on the heads if everything else is bare.

 

If it says GTP than they are the newer GT40P heads which are better but NOT OEM Cobra heads.

Are you buying the entire car and confirming parts are original or just buying the engine...? Let us know if we can be anymore help. I would check EVERYTHING if the guy is questionable...

Dont forget the little lines on the front of all GT40 and GT40P heads.
